I don't think I can ignore the k390 dragonfly. I'm glad it's not a sprint so they won't be difficult to get.
I will also definitely want to have the new mule.
I'm shocked to say this but I think I've cooled on the swayback a little bit

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?
1. k390 - I think this steel is a really good sweet spot for a company like spyderco. the performance is on the extreme upper end of currently available tool steels. While I think a lot of companies would not be able to deliver this steel to consumers in a form that really takes advantage of the mat...

I need the exact opposite of this product: something that adds a wire clip to the regular pocket clip models!

I actually really like the mismatched scales a lot. kind of like the sun and moon chaparral. I already have this model in rex 45 but its a cool look

I'm really looking forward to this. I held off on buying a regular frn chaparral because the design of this is so striking

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?
4v - the trendy steel at the moment but it is capable of supporting an incredibly thin geometry which I think offsets some minor tradeoffs it makes in the wear resistance category. k390 - another trendy one but I honestly can think of any way this steel could be improved for folders/fixed blades. ha...

Re: Spyderco Puukko 2018
Why is it practical for spyderco to run REX45 so hard and 4V gets run towards the lower 60s? I suspect something like the tooling acquires more wear through the density and type or carbide rather than the hardness of the steel itself. Maybe sal or someone can shed some light. I'll admit that 4V is o...

Re: Spyderco Puukko 2018
One steel that would be fantastic is CPM Rex 45. Very stable. Who wouldn't want a Puukko with Hap 40 analog? :D Especially since only Spyderco has access to the steel and isn't afraid to push the hardness. M4 : I think this is adequate but it’s less optimized for the purpose than some other choices...

Re: CPM 4V | Edge Performance
According to statements like this there is no real difference between 4VE and 4V. Maybe so. That means a coupon of both made to the same specs could be sent to peters and heat treated the same way and get extremely similar results. If knifemakers wanting to produce the finest result, maybe this is ...

Re: CPM 4V | Edge Performance
I also believe that V4E performs better across the board. BUT since I have only owned a few knives in either variation of this steel I can't rule out the possibility that the differences in hardness, geometry etc are responsible for the difference in performance. I might also be subject to some kind...

Re: Manix2 4v marbled carbon fiber exclusive
That does look really cool. Never came around to the manix personally. Still...that looks nice. It kind of has a "retro" spyderco feel but maybe its just the hollow grind.
