the apostrophy...
I'm not much of a grammar nazi, certainly not in a forum setting where it's about ideas, socialization and fun, but the trend toward apostrophizing a word that's just a plural is really starting to bug me. I really like Spyderco's designs :) There are a bunch of new Spyderco's I want to buy this yea...

Re: 30 deg back bevel and 40 deg edge on all Spydercos?
From what I have read the diamond and CBN (cubic boron nitride) rods perform at almost identical grit and aggressiveness. Pick one and get it, you won't need both...
I just decided to try the CBN, since they were about the same price and I'd never used that abrasive before.

Re: 30 deg back bevel and 40 deg edge on all Spydercos?
My new FRN Native S110V came with a perfect edge. I didn't know they had a sharpening robot, so I just figured that whoever sharpened it was having a really good day :) Also, I love my new Sharpmaker. So, the diamond rods are coarser than the medium rods? I'm happy I got the UF rods, but this is th...

Re: Need help getting the pivot out of a PM2
the torx sockets on my PM2 don't correspond exactly to the sizes in my Wiha wrench set, the T9 is just a bit snug in the back screws and the T10 is loose in the pivot screws... I haven't really noticed poor fit with this wrench set in any other use, so I'm thinking it's the fasteners?

I second that sentiment, but would add that hammers and hack saws both work pretty darned well for coconut disassemblyDonut wrote:After you get it fixed, I would dedicate that to cutting veggies and slicing.
It might be a good idea to schedule a cleaver for Christmas. :)

Re: How many of you Scandi sharpen your Scandi knives?
My primary source for that info is a gent who has been to Sweden and Norway several times and is in the knife business... he says that the traditional way is a single bevel with no secondary. You'll find that a majority of Norwegian and Swedish knives have no secondary bevel, especially ones intende...

Re: Star Wars the force awakens!
Hey here is a fun exercise for you all: In your mind, try to design and picture what sort of Spyderco knife or knives would be most likely and most suitable for both the Jedis and the Siths to carry. What Spyderco would Vader carry if he wanted an EDC Knife to compliment his light saber? Which Spyd...

Re: Blade chip help
That's half an hour on a coarse bench stone and another twenty minutes for working up through the grits to a finish edge IMO... If you're good with freehand sharpening and have a full complement of stones that is ;) If you don't have the tools or experience with this sort of repair, then the suggest...

Stretch and Endura are too big for my taste as an everyday pocket knife.

Re: Anyone rock a Kiwi 4?
Kiwi 4 was in my pocket yesterday, I find it to be a great balance of light weight and cutting ability. It took a bit to warm up to the grip, but now that I "get it" the ergos are some of my favorite. It's sort of a high price point for it's size, but I'd say it's worth the asking price in...

Re: How many of you Scandi sharpen your Scandi knives?
Scandi grind and zero grind on a blade that has a lower DPS are totally different things... the angle on most Scandinavian knives' bevel (basically a low, flat sabre grind with no secondary bevel) is such that the steel can support the edge well with somewhat hard duty cutting (the steels are also s...

How many of you Scandi sharpen your Scandi knives?
This didn't get any responses in the Mora thread, so I'll give it its own space and see if anyone bites: How many of you strictly adhere to Scandi sharpening technique? Many commercial/factory Scandinavian grind knives (and some hand made ones as well) come with a small secondary bevel at the edge, ...

Re: Surgical Steel Sporting Knives: explain please?
"Surgical" is more about the sharpening techniques used and the fact that a new blade is at hand when one goes dull... non-reactive is good too. Scalpels don't get re-sharpened these days, so just like razor blades, they just have to stay sharp for a reasonable amount of time before they g...
