Re: Funny Dog Stories

Had to jump on this. The dog I had as a teen was a heinz 57 and had the run of the yard. One day I saw her lying down next to our roof drain pipe . This part was lying flat on the grass to divert water to the dirt. First thing I noticed was the pipe was now in the backyard instead of the front. As I...

Re: Breaking in new knife

Although this is not my first ever spyderco it is the first I was able to #work# on. All others are much older models. Thanks Matt man for you suggestions.

Breaking in new knife

I got my Delica Wave two days early. It came lightly oiled so first thing I did was flip the clip for a left hand pocket. I noticed a slight drag on the blade when it first starts to open. I loosened the pivot a little and started working the blade back and forth. Did any of you have this problem an...

Re: Handgun hunting

I shoot a lot of squirrels with a Single Six and have shot a few rabbits and grouse with it too. That's awesome! :) What range do you ping them at? Do you rest your hand on something like a tree or fence post or do you just shoot off hand? I've only shot a big stainless Ruger .44Mag revolver a few ...

Re: stiff delica

My knife is the "pinned" variety and I checked for the freeness of the blade as per Mike. Apparently the handles are pushed in to tight, so I am going to try the toothpaste idea and see what happens. Thanks to all for their posts.

Re: Military Service?

I lost my student deferment and was fixing to get drafted, so I enlisted in the Navy. It was Oct. 1969. The Navy thought I had potential as an ET (electronics tech) so they sent me to school. I spent most of my time partying and not studying so I was soon let go and assigned to the Coral Sea CVA-43 ...

stiff delica

I have had a Delica, older model that has always been stiff to open almost as if the handle was pressed on too tight. I have worked it back and forth hundreds of times. I have used various oils, penetrating fluids, etc. to no avail. Now I appeal to the masses. Someone out there have a solution? The ...

"stiff" delica

I have an older delica blue handle with V8-10 plain blade and used it much because of the stiffness of the blade. Thumb opening is hard for me, but the reverse grip-ring finger works ok. Is there a way to loosen it up? Yes, I have oiled it and worked it back and forth many times. Is this a possible ...

I apparently opened a can of worms. I do agree, an office/school enviornment may not be the best place for this knife. In my post I mentioned i will carry the twins at my work which is an office/construction type of job. Access to a knife with either hand that is easily opened with either hand is my...

Sal expects his knives to be used. If yours is being used to save lives and gets alittle worn out so be it. I would say get a millie. A large handle with rough scales, sturdy blade, combo edge. Can be easily deployed even with gloves. my .02
