Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again

I'm mostly sick of hearing that s30v is "chippy". It's not!

Re: Para 3 Defect?

I've got a Para 3 with the flat non-stepped tang and the action is smooth as butter. The other two (digi camo and Rex 45) have the stepped tang and had lock stick that I couldn't get rid of. Ended up taking my dremel and grinding away the step, making the ramp a little steeper so the lock bar can di...

Re: Why is having the blade drop closed such a big deal?

I don't care about drop shut action unless there's zero blade play and the blade is centered. Maybe it's ocd, but I just like being able to fine tune my folders for those three things. Most of my PM2's and Para 3's are that way, although my Rex 45 Para 3 took some work to get it to drop shut without...

Re: New knife, uneven grind

This is pretty common on knives of all brands. It's pretty easy to even the bevels out over time by spending more time sharpening the side with the narrower bevel. For example, one side is 22° and one side is 20°, you could get both sides to 20°but you'd have to concentrate on the narrower 22° side ...

Am I missing something. $520 Perhaps this would help put it in perspective ? http://www.scottcookknives.com/specs.htm https://steeladdictionknives.com/shop-by-maker/peter-rassenti/ Or another perspective. http://bobbyowsinski.blogspot.com/2012/05/485-volume-knob.html#axzz5fGUODXow Compared to this ...

Re: Payson= PAY:SON

From Spyderco's standpoint it's good business, they're one of the top dogs in the knife industry so if they can make and sell a $500 knife more power to them.

I don't really mind, they're constantly coming out with interesting new stuff at just about every price point, there's something for everyone.

Re: Mantra Detent Ball

I wish Spyderco would go with thicker washers that don't cup. I've finally got my Mantra and Domino dialed in, but the washer issue is always on the back of my mind. As I posted above, after looking at mine, I'm pretty sure they started out cupped. No, they start out flat and they cup from being th...

Re: CTS-XHP Steel Chipping

I use the KME on all of my knives (three have CTS-XHP) and the only time I've seen what you are describing is when I used the stones when they were brand new, and only on one blade, and only with the 140 grit diamond plate and never as bad as what you have pictured. Judging by just this one photo, ...

This one looks a little sus to me too. I always thought the Spyderco CPM-S30V engraving was parallel to the plunge grind It's kind of funny they put "This is not a fake or replica" in the description :D https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spyderco-Paramilitary-2-Knife-G-10-3-44-Satin-S30V-C81GP2-/202...

I'd love to see another run of Bowies. I'd be tickled pink if they did a tanto version as well.

Looks like they tried to do a crappy wave mod... why? Who knows, lol. Should have just went with the zip ties, at least he could have got $100 for it if he sold it then.

That's a good question. I would guess most of their CQI is geared toward process control and keeping consistency from batch to batch, but I could be wrong!

I kind of went willy nilly on my knife purchases last year, so I'm keeping it to "Must haves" for now, lol. The Para 3 light weight and a Maxamet are definitely on that list :)

Re: Stuck pivot screw PM2

It does take a bit of torque to break them free. I usually just tighten the pocket clip side pivot all the way, then tighten the other side as needed to adjust the centering and action.

I can't argue with that flow chart ;) Just pre-ordered a LW Para 3. It's like the perfect hybrid combo of a Delica, Manix 2 LW, and Para 3.
