Re: My latest regrinds
Hey guys, here are some of my latest regrinds... BR Oliver Nice work Centurio! I was inspired by all the regrinds by you and others around the forums. Picked up a Harbor Freight 1×30 and some ceramic belts from Supergrit recently. Did my first power grinding today with a drip line setup for a wet g...

Re: Manix S110V or Military
Thanks a lot for the answeres, I really appreciate that!
I had the chance to handle the Military. It is a badass knife, but I really do not like tip down carry, so I went for the S110V Manix because of the ergos and steel

Manix S110V or Military
Hey guys,
I can't decide between these two knives. I could buy the S110V Manix and marry the blade with the G-10 scales of my other Manix, or just get the simple Military in S30V...
Really can't decide..
Please help me :D :D :spyder:

I did a flat saber grind, a little bit of the teeth are still left, they will be ground off after some sharpening... 60, 80 and 120 grit ceramik belt, 400 grit buffing belt. Hope you like it :) http://abload...

Re: Regrind CS Voyager horizontal satin
Thanks for the feedback :) I wrap the sandpaper around a sharpmaker rod, works quite well but it is a little bit uncomfortable. I have to build a sanding block.
Honestly I did not know it is forbidden by the forum rules. I will put the pictures in a single thread next time.

BG-42 Military Regrind
Hey folks, I just reground the BG-42 Military of a friend of mine. Great knife by the way... :spyder: :D Before the regrind thickness behind the edge was 0.5 to 0.6 mm... http://abload.de/img/sdc17226xhsgh.jpg http://abload.de/img/sdc17228upsj1.jpg After the regrind (80 and 120 grit ceramic be...

Regrind CS Voyager horizontal satin
Hey guys, here is my newest regrind. CS Voyager, 10 thousands of an inch thick behind the edge. 36 grit Cubitron II on the sander. Afterwards I put a horizontal satin finish on the blade by hand with sandpaper (up to 600grit). It came out excellent in my opinion :P http://abload.de/img/sdc17221djs4f...

Re: Strange surface structure after regrinding
I tried to grind the D2 blade again, used more pressure with relatively low speed. Same result. I hate this stuff. Reground a Victorinox kitchen knife and finished off with a 180 ceramic belt, what a beautiful grind, simply amazing. Same on Aus-8.

Re: Strange surface structure after regrinding
The thing that stands out to me is that if it is happening to the blade on a scale large enough to see it, then what is that kind of deformation doing to the edge. I wonder if that isn't why power sharpened edges on worn belts can have such poor performance. It might not just be over heating that c...

Re: When refurbishing a dull blade to high end class I found out that Sal was 100% correct
I only polish the edges of woodworking tools such as axes, hatchets, chisels etc. and straight razors.
For every other type of work I use a coarser finish like 600-1200 grit.

Re: Strange surface structure after regrinding
Thanks you! Very interesting data. There are also lots of papers with direct microscopy showing the deformation of large grains as producing the surface irregularity. The reason why it goes away in hand sanding is that the energies are far less severe hence abrasion happens vs passing the yield stre...

Thank you very much. The structure got visible on the d2 blade after 100 grot zirc. Maybe i try to finish by hand on sandpaper. I will let you know.

Do you mean that this bands are created by regrinding or just get visible by doing regrinds?
