Re: Trademark issue?

And yet, over the years, several manufacturers who use opening holes of other shapes have claimed their shape is the best. It could be argued that the additional traction offered by, say, a 10 or 12 sided polygon might be of more value than the "rotational symmetry" of a round one. Maybe I'm cynical...

Re: Trademark issue?

I'm not sure where I land on this one, honestly. I respect Spyderco's branding and the ability to differentiate their work and designs, and certainly agree that they're legally entitled to this protection under current laws. And I get why it's defended, and that it's a good tool against homage and c...

Re: Nick's question of "why"?

Can we get the next revisions to be the Paramilitary 2.1 and Para 3.1? Maybe with CQI changes giving us the Para 3.1.1? :D

Re: Nick's question of "why"?

My big question now is "WHY" haven't I checked these forums all week! Thanks, Sal, for the shout-out, the respect, and for bringing this question to the forums. You all had some great responses, and I wish this forum had a "Like" button so I could share my appreciation. I'm not going to respond ever...

Re: Can we Spyderco users be assured VG10 will be with us for a good long time?

VG-10 is a nice mix of edge-holding, easy sharpenability, and cost, and has a great future as a budget-friendly or beginner-friendly steel. In a budget folder, it's a stellar choice, and I really hope that VG-10 starts to take on the kind of role currently occupied by 8Cr13MoV and AUS-8: a solid cho...

Oof. That's a nice knife and a nice combo, but that price is a non-starter for me.

I'd like to throw in a vote for LC200N as a steel option. It's such a nice all-arounder.

That'd be the Paysan, for me. Then again, I've got expensive taste.

Re: BladeHQ Exclusive Native 5 Jade G10 CPM-M4

Thank god they've picked the ugliest G10 color (or lack thereof) imaginable, or I'd be in regular trouble. Then again, for an M4 Shaman, I'd do the old Buy-and-Dye.

Re: Premium delica?

You sure love that grey Delica of yours! Very rarely does it not make an appearance in your videos. Yep. He's a Gem. The Delica 4 is (and remains) one of the very best everyday carry designs out there, which is why it's my token size comparison, and a solid functional comparison too, particularly f...

Re: Premium delica?

I'd love to see some Delica sprints from Golden or Taichung, potentially non-FRN. A high-end steel (M390? M4? Damasteel?) and maybe some very nice handle materials (Micarta? CF?), coupled with the higher-end F&F and better value that those factories provide, seems like a winner. The Pakkawood Delica...

Re: You believe in love at 2nd sight?

When I first took the Roadie out of the box, I felt like it was the silliest and dumbest knife design ever. Coupled with the sharp Italy-factory edges on everything but the blade, I thought for sure it was going to be heading home. Then I carried it.

"Oh. That's why."

Now it's a keeper!

Re: More Bull Horn handles on Spyderco or no?

It's hard to say "No, fewer options!", but personally, I'd rather see things like stabilized wood (even Pakkawood etc) or micarta. Horn and such are fine, but not to my particular taste.

Not a bad impression (although I tend to break up my text a bit more!). And I suspect that the standoffs are for balance, not for aesthetics. But I do look forward to handling one myself!

Re: SpydieChef - Out of Stock

It's worth knowing that the Slysz Bowie had a period of being completely unstocked, then came roaring back. And stock was good up until its untimely death. So don't read too much into it.

Interesting. That hardware is the kind often used by M-Tech and other Master Cutlery brands. I didn't know that they were making (awful) fakes on the side.

Re: Sal: any chance of a Spyderco Straight Razor?

I'm assuming you're good at sharpening since... well you post a lot of videos about knives, so you'd better know :). What's your sharpening methodology with this? I just use sandpaper and go up to around 5000 grit. My cheap razor slides right thru everything for several shaves before a performance ...

Re: Sal: any chance of a Spyderco Straight Razor?

For me, the idea has an appeal. The straight razors I've tried, even those made by serious makers, seem just barely up to the thickness of my stubble, often requiring mid-shave stroppings. I've often wondered what a modern PM steel (e.g. Maxamet) might bring to the table, and whether it could let me...
