Re: k390 delica liners - stainless?

Anyone have experience with EDCi versus plain ole mineral oil? I used to use ballistol but I don't like the smell. Don't use froglube on the blade or pivot, just the liners. Use KPL on the pivot. Just bought a bottle of EDCi, but I'd been doing mineral oil on the blade previously. WD40. When all th...

Re: Pricing

I seriously wonder where Spyderco sees their pricing in 4 years because the trajectory they are on is unsustainable. So you predict Spyderco will be shuttered in four or so years? That's the grossest re-interpretation of a post I have seen in a while, and I'm not even going to respond but to say th...

Re: High-End Spyderco Knife Line

Hi Nasa, I appreciate your sharing your thoughts. Spyderco is both vertical and horizontal. We've always felt that it was a difficult balancing act, but one that has helped us across the years. I don't anticipate much change at this time in the direction in our business plan. We'll always try to im...

Re: Pricing

I seriously wonder where Spyderco sees their pricing in 4 years because the trajectory they are on is unsustainable. I'm a prepper. I would think that anyone still in manufacturing in the USA have a prepper mentality and are prepared to weather most storms. Most of the US manufacturers have sold ou...

Re: Pricing

Again, why does Spyderco have to adjust their practices because of how individual markets act?

Isn't that between you and your government/s.

I'm not trying to be dismissive but I just don't see how this is the responsibility of the company.

Re: Pricing

A 600 USD knife with a retail price cost 450 USD + 113 USD in taxes and import+ 25 usd to send the knife to Europe +35 usd import "fee is a 593 USD knife. And if you buy it from your local mom and pop store they will take the MSRP of 600 USD but they take € instead of USD for the hassle of get...

Okay, not trying to be a jerk at all, but those things are still not Spyderco's responsibility.
All is good, I just wanted to clarify the point. The EU prices may accidentally be close to the MSRPs in US, but are not based on them.
Got it. Thanks Matus.

Re: Pricing

Price increases aside, why is it Spyderco's fault that your location in Europe charges full MSRP? Many consumer products have a much higher MSRP than what their "street price" will be. It has nothing to do with MSRP, but a lot to do with VAT and import fees. Okay, not trying to be a jerk ...

Re: Pricing

Whatever the cause, the increasing price, covid19, is pushing even the FRN models out of my reach. Here in Europe they just use MSRP as their price and paying 200€ for a PM is just no longer bearable. I have been saying this for a long time and am frustrated about it. When Spyderco comes out with a...

Re: "Scope the Edge" project

I wonder if a "Spyderco Testing and Data Collection" sub forum might be due? With Shawn's and Lance's recent work, this potentially happening, etc.

Just a thought for faster access is all.

Re: "Scope the Edge" project

This was posted in the Ghost Hunting thread, but I thought I'd post it here for more people to see. I know it's just a crazy idea from my sideways brain. I think we all can agree that the goal is to seek absolute truth as best we can and share that effort and the results. As I said, this is not wel...

Oh, great. The OP has reminded me that I need to get what would be my first Endela, and to get it in K390. Greater still, I now have one coming.
You're welcome. :smlling-eyes

Re: It's Deadboxhero's Fault! K390

Ok, I'm gonna have to get that Lynch clip. The only thing I've wished was different on my Endela is that I'd prefer a deeper carry. Just so the knife would be less conspicuous. https://i.imgur.com/Z9lCEbh.jpg I also honestly think it feels just a touch more comfortable. That's purely subjective and...

Re: Low End Spyderco Knives

First, my post was not intended to be negative, rather the opposite - my thoughts on preserving the quality image of Spyderco. I carried a Spyderco every day, both on-duty and off-duty, during my 32 year law enforcement career - you will not find a bigger fan of Spyderco. Second, my post, was also ...

Re: Pricing

Folks who are upset about prices right now better hide under a pillow because this and next year will see even much more drastic increases to everything. I work in manufacturing and the wage increase we've been forced to offer in just a few months just to lure people off their couches has been incre...

Re: It's Deadboxhero's Fault! K390

Sal, For what it is worth, this K390 Endela has the absolute best factory edge of any Spyderco I've ever purchased. And there have been a lot! I haven't laid this on a stone yet so not sure if the angle is a little lower or it's just thinner behind the edge (or both) but it is slicey. And the edge b...

Re: It's Deadboxhero's Fault! K390

One of the most awesome things Spyderco has done recently is move K390 into full production. I agree, but also find it kind of odd. All the other tool steels seem to be involved in sprints/exclusives, yet one of the absolute top performers can be found fairly easily in a bunch of models. Certainly ...

Re: It's Deadboxhero's Fault! K390

How many of us looked straight at the smoothness of that edge bevel? :beaming-face Yeah we did. I always make sure to post the right angle of knives, so one cannot fully see my bevel. Bah! No shame when you're doing things yourself. I can assure you, mine don't look like that either. ;)

Re: It's Deadboxhero's Fault! K390

Nice buy ! I still have to be conquered by K390 but the most use I had from it was with my Ladybug. I now have a SS Stretch 2 and, a couple of days ago, received a M17P K390 mule. I'm ready to be conquered ! Now, about those vitrified diamond stones... care to tell me what, where, when and how much...
