T6 is the basic Torx size for many knives. Besides the Spydies that Deacon mentioned, all Benchmade clip screws and scale screws are T6.

A few sold on eBay well over $300 a few months ago, now prices seem to have come down around $250. There were a few deals on forums in the price range you mentioned, those were steals, in my opinion.

I agree, for the same price you can get the S90V one or the upcoming M4 Millie, provided you are on the list. BG-42 is a good steel but nothing extremely ...

I have read some makers commenting that it takes a finer edge and a better finish than S30V, but have not seen any evidence of that. I am waiting for my first custom in S35VN, should be here next week, I'll see what gives.

Here is an extremely basic grouping of the steels. They have different properties and could be debated for pages but they are within a close enough spectrum to understand: Good Steels: AUS8, 440C, GIN-1, 8Cr13Mov (Byrd/Tenacious/Persistence) Premium Steels: ATS-34, 154cm, VG10 Super Steels: CPM-S30...

Give him the Caly, sell the Stretch and get a Caly CF for yourself.

One thing I have learned: I avoid buying people stuff I am very passionate about (knives, watches, art or car books) because I know they will not appreciate the gift as much as I expect them to.

I don't think the lock design has anything to do with the failure of that Manix. The ball bearing itself did not fail. The failure was caused by everything around that bearing not being beefy enough, from the pivot to the liners. If the bearing is not properly held in place, the folder will fail. I ...
