Re: Native 5 - Sudden Catastrophic Failure (Locking Mechanis
My experience is that they won't ship you a replacement part, you'll have to send the knife in. Charlynn is very nice, and (thankfully) just got back in the office. :) I'd start by just sending them a W&R rec. through their website. You'll get an email reply with return instructions, and you'll ...

Yes, End Line User, the person who ultimately purchases the knife for their own use.

Re: Kitchen Knives
Now that is a very interesting concept Sal mentions, and is absolutely right: my issues with the K04 stem from the fact that it doesn't behave like a chef's knife, namely I can't cut on flat surfaces with it unless I draw across the work, or work only at the edge of the board. I'm curious how serrat...

Re: Kitchen Knives
We're just spitballing now obviously, but a favorite of mine would be a more traditional Japanese single bevel design. As for the style, well a kiritsuke would be nice. I have and use the K04, but would prefer either something more rigid (maybe smaller) or something much larger (chef's knife size so...

Re: I figured out why my millie was off center
We chatted about this very situation a few months back... My Millie suffered a similar issue, which was righted by adjusting/fixing the clip. Cheers, Radioactive :) http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?t=64550&p=959399" target="_blank Ha! Someone else did reach this conclusio...

I figured out why my millie was off center
This is actually something which has perplexed me for a long LONG time. The knife itself is a right hand millie from ages ago, well loved, but it was always off center toward the liner-lock side. I could tighten the pivot until it sort of centered itself, but at that point it would require more forc...

Re: Soap and water cleaning
As someone who spends a lot of time browsing old threads, it always frustrates me when I find a situation that interests me (or parallels one of mine) but as soon as resolution is approached the thread dies and isn't updated as to the outcome. To that end, here is what has happened in the past month...

Re: Spyderco Knives and Free-Hanging Rope?
I'm struggling to think of a Spyderco which, in the hands of a skilled user, couldn't cut free-hanging rope. The Serrata is nice and large, meaning it'd be easy to contact the target, but its comparatively thick cross section might make it a bit more of a challenge. I'm sure someone who has extensiv...

Re: Warranty Void Question: Why no Disassembly Allowed?
Can you back up your statement at all? I can not, all I have to go on is my memory of the change. I would also add that my recollection of the change was from their online statement, and that it was discussed on this forum. I went to go back through my post logs, in the hopes of finding something, ...

Re: Warranty Void Question: Why no Disassembly Allowed?
Say there was a knife company that had an "unlimited warranty" in which, no matter what you did with the knife, whether you were even the original purchaser or someone who simply found the knife discarded on the side of the road, they expressly guaranteed in writing that they would repair...

Re: Warranty Void Question: Why no Disassembly Allowed?
Totally logical and well reasoned argument. I certainly can't find any fault with it. However, it fails to take into account the content of Kristi's initial post in this thread from a few years back, which I've quoted the pertinent portion of below, and the dozens of times that the accuracy of its ...

Re: Warranty Void Question: Why no Disassembly Allowed?
All that aside, and no matter how much anyone agrees or disagrees or criticizes, there is and will always be the argument that there are pinned knives (Caly 3/3.5) that are out there in vast quantities, being used for all manner of things, that are never taken apart for cleaning and they're just fi...

Re: Warranty Void Question: Why no Disassembly Allowed?
I might catch some fire for this, but here is my take on the situation: First, spyderco's warranty does not say disassembly unconditionally voids the warranty, it actually says: Spyderco’s warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, misuse, loss, improper handling, alterations, accident, neglect...

Re: Soap and water cleaning
Glad to hear Spyderco is resolving the situation for you. My guess is that they will insist you send it in for them to replace the stop pin. They would not be too keen on you doing it yourself. They'll set you up right either way! Cheers, Radioactive :) We don't always have to understand company po...

Re: Soap and water cleaning
Wanted to keep this thread updated. I got a very nice response yesterday from Spyderco saying that the stop pins ARE supposed to be rust resistant. My "interpretation" of that then is that this was not the expected behavior of the stop pin, to rust at a sneeze. Charlynn also suggested I se...

Re: Soap and water cleaning
but this does just support the suspicion that it wasn't completely dry after you washed it. I mean...... obviously. This gets into the whole: I dried it as best I could, better than would have been possible say out and about hiking or something, given that I didn't disassemble it thing. The stop pi...

Re: Soap and water cleaning
If you are really this bent out of shape about it maybe you should select knives that suit you more. I think some of the rather absurd "arguments" I'm getting here are making me look a lot more bent out of shape than I actually am. I, quite frankly, think it was nothing more than a bad ba...

Re: Soap and water cleaning
I dry my knives out with a blow dryer. The combination of air being blown into it along with the heat dries out nicely, I've never had a problem.Just take the time and your knife will be fine. Second, H-1 is incapable of rusting. We're getting a bit off-topic but, my point (since you clearly missed...
