Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
Mine is still running perfectly as is one I bought for an employee as a reward. My domino is a few years old and has no issues with the same washers. I would be down with PB washers in place of bearings. My para 2s run on PB washers and are very smooth. I don't think bearings are needed for this ty...

Re: LC200n corrosion resistance
Regarding lc200n, I believe you've got your numbers wrong. It can definitely be taken to 59 and it's supposed to reach 60+ with the right ht, but most the makers I've spoken with are having a hard time getting it much over 59. Well, I stand corrected, I had to see if my memory was correct so I chec...

Re: LC200n corrosion resistance
LC200N is roughly the equivalent of Bohler N360. LC200N is also sold under the name Z-FiNit which I believe might be the same company Zapp which is a German steel manufacturer. These are all high nitrogen steels that are pressurized during manufacture and usually have a relatively high chromium and...

Re: VG10
Vg-10 was at one time, the king of the VG series of stainless offered by Takefu from Japan. I like VG-10, it is a great performing knife steel and always will be. There have been improvements in blade quality steel over the last two decades. Takefu now offers Super G1 and Super G2 which are claimed ...

Re: Sharpening my Spydies...
There are just so many options for freehand sharpening. Here is a high end suggestion. Shapton Japanese Water Stones. They range in price from about $40 and up. I'd suggest #120 #320 #1000 #5000 or #8000 Grit to start with. Don't forget a leveling stone to keep them all flat. Learn your angles and m...

Re: Blending EDC with Self Defense
I use this for self defense, notice the over sized spydie hole on the CZ.
For back up, anything that has g10 and a blade longer than 3" with quick one hand deployment.
Yes I do EDC the Tatanka once in a while.

Re: What is your favorite stainless steel and why?
BOHLER M390 but its expensive. Always hardens above RC60, holds an edge, can be mirror polished and almost as corrosion resistant as H1 without the need to continually resharpen or touch up as often. I don't know of anyone but custom makers who use it. There are quite some production knives with th...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
Sense of entitlement? No sale. Entitlement does not imply when one spends money on something. Never has. This makes me think of a discussion on Mad Dog Sports about NBA players just not playing in certain arenas to take a day off. Fans were upset about it. Someone mentioned they need to be quiet an...

Re: Gayle Bradley Advocate First Impressions?
So, about the apparent problem... is it the bearing assembly or the backing washer that's failing? ApostleD spends most of his time remarking on the dishing/pitting of the backing washer, with some additional remarks on the washers' galling of their recesses. If it's the washer, why would anyone ca...
