Re: Any geology type folks here?

Looks a bit like boiler clinker form a steam loco... A real simple definition of "clinker" in a steam loco is "melted ash".. happens when the cold ahs gets mixed in with the hot coal fire, usually from improper firing by the fireman..The ash then melts and the resulting goo-ey me...

L'il Native lockback love..

Got to admit.. this is one great little knife.. It's taken over daily pocket duty from my Case Swayback Damascus and my Victorinox Camper as the usual in pocket EDC.. I did take the clip off, and its a perfect bottom of the pocket EDC... Fits my hand like a glove, good grippy G10, and as I don't fid...

I only wish I could find a car with manual windows!

Re: Today I had a HUGE surprise with my Lil'Native... you were so right Doc !

Could somebody compare the Lil'Native and the Dfly with regards to comfort in hand? I know that is a pretty subjective request. I too am looking for the perfect urban carry (2.5" or less). Right now I have the Urban and am happy with it. I always figured my next small knife would be the Wharni...

Tried both models in the store, went with the lockback.. Great EDC carry.. was like a razor out of the box, too. Fits me like a glove!

Re: remember my quandry about a DF2 or Lil Native?

I should add that I really like the blade finish, although it is a bit of a fingerprint magnet.. Fit and finish are really good, smooth action, perfect centering!

remember my quandry about a DF2 or Lil Native?

Well... finally got down to my local brick and mortar store, and they had regular DF2, the Wharnecliffe DF2, the Emerson DF2 and L'il Natives in both compression and back lock, so I got to handle and pocket test them all.. Ended up with the L'il Native backlock, just fit me like a glove. AND it was ...

Re: Why does tooling get destroyed?

I discussed this with a friend of mine who is a master machinist.. He said that nowadays, at least in his area of work, (high end muiti-axis CNC systems) that all one needs to keep is the master digital CAD/CAM file. However he did say that in some manufacturing areas, tooling still is the preferred...
