Re: Pakkawood Native 5??
I had a pakkawood df2. The scales constantly broke around the clip area. Pakkawood absolutely needs liners but I don't think I'd ever buy something that brittle again.

I know what you mean. I've got mine in my pocket right now. Mine is also lightly modded, I threw a lynch clip and some blue scales on it.

Re: And sometimes they're perfect.
In my experience, most knives come with at least tiny little things that could be improved. GEC, CRK, Benchmade, Spyderco.. you name it. They are made on production lines with at least the nominal purpose of being used to cut things. I've only sent one or two back for serious defects. My last Yojimb...

Re: In Defense of Liners
I like the models with liners but I also like and appreciate the models without liners. Poor action on the Native 5 LWs? I have at least 6 N5 LWs and I think they're all great considering no liners or bronze washers. They're all reasonably smooth and when open I can push the lock bar and the blade ...

Re: Whither Nishijin?
My first preference is the Kiwi of course. It's an exquisite design, right up there with the Chief. I think it's made in the wrong factory though.
So, if it's to be a new model split the difference and make it an Endela.

Re: Triple B/Spyderco Folder
I find it hilarious that such a highly anticipated knife made an appearance at Blade and no one paid any attention. I was paying attention to Sal. He was telling some great stories. I felt it was more important to give him my attention. Yeah but there were thousands of people there, surely someone ...

Really happy with this latest dye job. Behold the Smurf Slayer 2! wow that's blue! good job. what color did they start off as and what color dye did you use? Thanks they started out as some electric blue scales from NapoliEDC (highly recommended), which was cool but like a neon sign poking out of m...

Re: yojimbo + choil
In my everyday use I find that choils snag up my cuts far more often than I use them. Besides the ricasso area works well enough for me on the rare instances I need to choke up.

A choiless HHG would have been an instant buy for me. Oh well, if I can get one without a choil at least.

Re: Titanium chaparral- can we expect more?
I had a Stealth. It broke my heart. I absolutely loved the blade and it was stunningly beautiful. The clip on the other hand was a complete let down. The knife was just too dense to be securely held by a thin wire clip. It shifted and sometimes nearly fell out. I stopped carrying it and let it go. N...

The action is quite good! You may have a break in period at first but with a little fluorinated grease mine feel 99% as good as my G10.

Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?
I like yellow because it dyes well and they won't sell me white scales on their own. As for Magnacut, it sounds like a blend of LC200N and Cruwear, two of my favorite everyday steels. So I'm looking forward to it but I'm not sure I get why it's so hyped.

I echo that sentiment. I use my watch and flashlight everyday, but I don't always cut something. Today I did though.
