Re: Canada's knife laws just cost me almost $400.

What BHQ could do is issue a warning about shipping to Canadian addresses because of spot-checks the CBSA uses to prevent delivery. Without such a warning, BHQ looks very much like it cares only to take your money. From their shipping page: "If items get lost, stolen, or seized by customs, we ...

Re: Is this a rare version of the Stretch?

I had a Boker Top Lock with Kraton inserts that was made in the 90's. After about 10 years, the inserts fell out. I tried a few different adhesives but never could get them to stay in again.

I sell a ton on there (some knives, but mostly vintage, antiques, and collectibles)
Got any vintage cast iron skillets? If you have a store on ebay with some buy it now pieces, I'll check it out.

Re: Bow River Upgrade!

Another good comparison would be my old cellphone. It works and is made of functional material. Still I wouldn't buy the same phone today and I'd be willing to pay more for something up to date. But your old cellphone is obsolete because it probably isn't compatible with apps made today. It can't b...

Re: M4 Bow River?

I'd prefer a better stainless for a knife designed for use around water. But I probably wouldn't buy it anyway because the 8cr works just fine for me when I take it to the creek or river.

Perhaps someone else here can start a company, run factories in 5 different countries worldwide and find a better solution to such manufacturing flaws :thinking?
They don't "run" those foreign factories. Spyderco does not own them. They just work with them.

Re: Sharp knives save lives

Couldn't it just be unclipped? Not trying to be a jerk here, but the collar has a clip on it and you wouldn't have needed a sharp knife next to the face of panicking dog. But I do understand sometimes a human panics too, and the easy options are overlooked.

Re: Big Belly Blades

Never heard of it :thinking Seems like it would be easy to cut through the skin if you're not really careful. With furbearers like coyote, fox, and everything smaller, large sweeping cuts aren't needed. A pointy tip is needed for fine work around the head/face and for the starting cuts down the leg...

Re: Big Belly Blades

It's interesting that so many people think of a large knife belly as a skinner. Most of the people I know who skin lots of animals, especially furbearers, use something completely different with no belly at all. In fact, it's called a pelting knife.

Re: Any love for combo edges?

We had this topic back in January.... So I'll just copy my comment from that. "When I worked on a farm, which did everything from growing crops and baling straw/hay to raising upland game birds, a combo edge was easily the best edge type. You get some dirty and gritty things to cut that serrate...

Re: Any love for combo edges?

I was hoping they'd do a combo edge Polestar just like they did the combo edge Tenacious. It would be nice if there were at least 1 or 2 exclusives in combo. There's a very real gap in the market for premium combo edge knives. We mostly have inexpensive China products to choose from.

The s35vn PM2 and Para 3 were first released in brown g10. Now that color is used for 15V. There are only so many colors in this world to choose from. You eventually run out.

And I know that the golden factory is super backed up, but personally I'd love to see it produced in the USA.
The only Spyderco frame lock I know of made in the USA was the titanium Military. Were there any more? I don't see this model being made in the USA.

It just looks like the lockbar wasn't ground to spec on top. You could probably take care of it yourself with some sandpaper and take to cover the areas you don't want sanded. but he also said "With the open blade all is aligned nicely". So if he grinds it down, it won't be flush when ope...

Re: Where oh Where have all the high end PS blades gone?

I think it's a combination of 2 things. #1... A lot of "afficionados" that want high end knives don't have dirty jobs. Just look at the plethora of office worker YouTubers that do an entire review at a desk and might talk about cutting up Amazon boxes once or twice with their knife. A plai...
