Re: Sharpening stone stones help

It depends on what steels you intend to sharpen. If you're here because you're into Spyderco... inexpensive waterstones will be less than optimal. Most waterstones use aluminum oxide abrasives with is too soft to do well on modern high wear resistance powdered steels. Spyderco's 400/800 grit cbn pla...

Re: Which should be the next model in Cru-carta?

All of them! Probably not feasible, but I'd like to see as many models as possible offered in 3 standard varieties; g10/s30v (or s45vn), cruwear/micarta, and CF/s90v, then run whatever sprint offerings you want in other steels/scales. That is my dream. No FRN? :o Good point! Lightweight/frn definit...

Re: Cruwear Micarta Native follow up to the Shaman??

Yes, but I'd really really love to see it contoured like the fluted versions. Flat micarta just doesn't have quite the same appeal as contoured micarta.

When I saw 75 pacer, I thought you were going to recommend a %25 smaller Hundred Pacer lol. A 3 inch blade hundred pacer would be an interesting knife.

Oh, wait a minute, let me amend my previous post and say an integral titanium compression lock would interest me a great deal.

Re: Para Military 2 Titanium

Titanium without a framelock is just kind of... bleh... to me. Just titanium scales... meh... Now a titanium framelock PM2s I could get behind. How do you feel about my earlier suggestion to make it like the Brouwer? Just the lockside titanium, the other side something really contrasting.. wood is ...

Re: STIFF STIFF STIFF Chaparral

I tried the spring mod. Helped a little but the action is still not as good as other Spyderco backlocks. Shame. Still a great knife, just slightly flawed.

Re: Polestar/Alcyone still "just" in BD1 (without "N")?

Bd1n would push me over the edge. My only other hesitation is I heard the detents are a bit soft. Fix that and I'm all in.

Re: STIFF STIFF STIFF Chaparral

Chapparal would be a perfect knife with a weaker spring, or just a similar overall action to the rest of the Spyderco backlocks. Not sure why that choice was made for the Chapparal. Still a great knife, just with one drawback.

Re: 2021 Forum knife?

I feel the need to restate how fitting an Endela would be. Brand new flagship model that has been discussed for ages. The design is begging for an upgrade from frn/vg10. I could also get behind a rock jumper forum knife. There is the K390 Endela! I know, and I'm sure it's a terrific knife, and I ha...

Re: Solving the issue of things we ask for

Yes, I think a custom shop should exist. I think it could be done in a way that doesn't affect the sprint run business. I don't think we will ever see it. Oh well, you can't have it all.

Re: 2021 Forum knife?

Endela with g10/micarta scales. Any steel other than vg10. Endela, Cobalt blue g10, and Spy27 steel would be fine with me. Endela, any micarta, and 4v would probably be ideal for me. If I have to propose a particular micarta, polished maroon linen sounds good to me.

Re: Interest in Front Flipper by Spyderco?

I am pretty fidgety with my knives. I tried a well regarded front flipper out of curiosity. It took a good bit of practice/getting used to/break in period, but I eventually became proficient at it. It is sort of fun, but less practical than almost every other opening mechanism, as in it takes more t...

Hi Vivi, CATRA makes a number of them at different price ranges that are quite effective. I have a portable one at my home and we use a large one in the Factory. Many of my teachers, like Cliff Stamp, Wayne Goddard, Ed Schempp and others have taught me that edge geometry is really more important th...
