Re: Mule Team flipping
The only way to stop flippers permanently is for Spyderco to directly price the Mules at the highest price someone would be willing to pay for them. No, that's just the most straightforward way. There are other ways to do this, and that is what this thread is about. Spyderco prices them this way so...

Re: Mule Team flipping
If Spyderco would price the Mules at their perceived market value in the first place, no one would be talking about this. Spyderco doesn't however, which is good for the consumers but does create a secondary market explosion for some of the rarer Mules. The only way to stop flippers permanently is f...

Re: Mule Team flipping
Look, I'm not trying to be a jerk or advocate specifically for flippers or anything like that. Spyderco is obviously free to make whatever business decisions that they want to. I was just giving my opinion because Sal asked for suggestions. As a knife enthusiast, would I prefer for the Mules to end ...

Re: Mule Team flipping
Reading this thread actually pained me a bit considering I'm such a fan of the mule team project and what it's trying to accomplish. For whatever it's worth, raising the prices just to combat flipping seems asinine. Adding serial numbers seems like a waste of time. Raising the number made would wor...

Re: Does your Domino do this?
This is one reason I don't prefer stainless inserts. They just seem too "slippery" most of the time.

Re: Direction of the MT Project
No way man. I'm actually more interested in the decision making process behind the mule team project and was just talking about the 19 as a point of reference. I do have a limited edition knife with a composite pine/oak blade on sale for $3,500 bucks if you're interested :) LOL, I like this guy :D

Re: Direction of the MT Project
It would be awkward if Bodog was actually just trying to drum up interest because he has some MT19's listed on the Bay that aren't selling....... LOL. Just kidding man, great first thread. Kind of makes me want to take mine out of the box and use it instead of my K390 or S110V Mules. I just assumed ...

Re: deciding factors on which knife to buy
I used to be all about the steels, then I got into customs and high end midtechs. Now I look at the overall package much more. In production knives however, I still obviously prefer a a crazy steel.

Re: A request to Sal
Well yeah, of course application is everything but, from opening up toys for the little one which requires tip work to cutting cardboard boxes Ive been pleased. Then again I'm easily pleased because to me, they're just a pocket knife. I don't get too wound up about one have to be perfect in every c...

Re: A request to Sal
Nothing to do with the CruWear, I was just using that as an example of how the Vallotton has a very thick blade with a deep hollow grind. Not the best at cutting performer. That depends entirely on what you're cutting. It would be less effective on an Apple than a CruWear Millie or Manix2, but the ...

Re: A request to Sal
Why wouldn't a CruWear Vallotton be able to slice an Apple? I've been VERY happy with both of my CruWear models and have used both (The Military even more so) for food preparation, and also for cutting up cardboard and plastic etc. I'm sure the hollow grind of the Vallotton would still work, but it...

Excellent review Cliff. Extremely honest, and persuaded me to hold off on buying one unless when I get a chance to handle one it blows my mind.

Re: A request to Sal
I love the Vallotton, but personally if a model were to get a "supersteel" I'd prefer a higher performance, more usable model. No sense in getting a Vallotton in CruWear if it can't slice an apple that great and I don't want to use it for fear of ruining it's beauty. Now a Vallotton in som...

Re: What are the "hard-use" spyderco FOLDERS?
This Tatanka seems to be around the corner... maybe the new toughest guy in the town? I tend to agree completely. Call me crazy, but frame-locks don't seem to actually stand up to "hard use" all that well. Definitely not as well as the BBL on the Manix or something like the compression lo...

Does Spyderco even do sprints of collabs? I don't think they do but could be wrong.

Re: The Sharpest?
Big Chris Custom Fixed Blade in CPM-M2 was the sharpest out of box. Literally a LIGHTSABER. I shaved with it, than stropped it with green and red compound and I honestly don't think a knife can be any sharper. It will play with strands of hair like they're sticks with ease, among other things. Crazy...

Re: New knives needing adjustments.
Yes. With production knives, they normally aren't 100% perfect. You may have to trade blade centering for blade play or vice versa. Honestly though on most Spydercos I've had, I've been able to adjust them to near perfection.
