Re: MXG Titanium Replacement For Standard 3-Screw Clip (Non Deep Pocket)

Thank goodness for these aftermarket clip companies. If not for them, the Smock and Brouwer would have been unusable and uncarriable for me.

Re: Lanyard tube rattle in Taichung models

I've removed the lanyard tube from both my Spydiechef and Advocate because of rattle. A $200+ knife that rattles like a maraca seems cheap. Shouldn't have to jerryrig a fix with superglue on a knife that costs that much. But, removing the tube doesn't detract from aesthetics really, so no big deal....

Re: Lanyard tube rattle in Taichung models

I can't figure out how having a lanyard hole became the default rather than a specific and somewhat rare feature. Like an Emerson wave, it's useful, but only for a very small number of specialists, so why do 90% of knives have lanyard holes and <10% have a wave? That’s a good point. How many holes ...

Re: Lanyard tube rattle in Taichung models

I have some that do it too. It never really bothered me, but some people here have suggested: remove the lanyard tube entirely or put locktite on the tube or put figernail polish on the tube. All of those require pulling off the show-side scale so don't go for it unless you are comfortable taking y...

Lanyard tube rattle in Taichung models

Anybody else experience this on their Taichung Spydercos?

Both my SpydieChefs, Bouwer and Smock have developed this annoying lanyard tube rattle.

Maybe one day Spyderco will stop ruining their knives with ugly, obtrusive lanyard holes.
A man can dream...

Re: Para 3 Salt Lc200n

While I love the Salt line and LC200N, I do not think I’d get a Para3 LW Salt. BD1N is already very resistant to corrosion, and it comes at a very attractive price-point. A Chaparral LW in LC200N is a different story, however! I’d love one of those, especially for its thin blade-stock. Would be inte...

Re: Underrated utility

I have many kitchen knives, including really pricey premium models from Japanese makers, etc.
however, Spyderco’s MBS blades kitchen knives are my most used and loved in the kitchen.
They take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’..!
Def underrated, with tremendous value.

Re: Squared/Rectangular Handle Scales: Do you like them or not?

I much prefer a more versatile, simple handle design. One of my favorite features of the SpydieChef, for example. Also why I love the Sebenza 21, traditional folders and other knives with similar handle designs. All these contours, finger choild, etc. only restrict the versatility of the knife, IMO.

0.013 is thin, but not exceedingly thin. I personally wish most factory knives came with a small measurement behind the edge.

Hate knives with black scales/handles.
Super boring, and uninviting.

Would love Dark Grey more, but especially dark blue or green.

Re: Tips for UF bench stone?

Rubber erasers work well on this stone. However, a rust eraser is probably best for cleaning waterstones, but also does exceptionally well. You can buy a rust eraser on Amazon. It’s a product made in Japan (at least my version is). The UF benchstone is one of my favorites. It polishes fairly well, a...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?

Maybe another CQIed version is due.
One without stick due to better fit between blade tabg and lock bar surface, as well as a broader lock-bar to avoid travel when negative pressure is applied.

Just a thought.

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?

Mine still has the same stick when it was new. Does not seem to be getting better after many weeks. We are still waiting on the lockbar treatment question to be answered by Spyderco. edit: I have a second one NIB that has lock stick as well, but I haven't tried to work it out yet. Both of my exampl...
