My rule of thumb has always been on blades whose lenght is 3" or less....i.e. Delica, Dragonfly, Ladybug, etc....My only exception to this is for Rescue-style sheepsfoot-bladed knives....For everything else, PE only...

As far as blood and body fluids, H1 offers no benefits over VG-10, except for when the knife will be exposed to sweat. Where H1 had is greatest benefit, will be in the cleaning and, if need, the disinfecting of the blade itself. With, H1 the blade can be rinsed off and stuck back in the pocket witho...

As far as the one that's been in my rotation the longest, we're coming up on 9 years of EDC'ing a ss/pe dragonfly, with most of that in a kydex neck rig. Surprised that it's held up as well as it has. I'm taking pics tonight of some other stuff I'm putting online tonight, so I'll toss the 'fly in t...

I was wondering about a black handle on a knife like this. If you need to toss it to someone in the dark or you drop it in the dark, won't you lose it? That's why I never toss any piece of equipment to anyone in the dark... :D As far as dropping, I've seen bigger pieces of gear lost in the dark...h...

I've been in EMS for 17 years and have carried Spydercos for 14 of those years. I found the Assist and the D'Allara Rescues to be too bulky for comfortable EDC while on the job and, in all honesty, the window breaker feature was more of a novelty than a uselful tool (I've owned and carried both). Th...

A 440V PE Military....Though it has seen some shelf time through the years it has been the one constant in my collection and has been back in my pocket again for some time now. Date of manufacture on the box is 11/01 and I've had it since 2/02. No plans to retire it any time soon.

Not really so much of a kit as it is a just a few items that I find handy...

1. Husky Torx Driver set w/ multiple bits
2. Militec-1 oil
3. The ubiquitous Sharpmaker
4. Old toothbrush for scrubbing/cleaning

Not much, I know, but it's what keeps my blades going....

Not so much recipes as they are tips... I prefer charcoal to gas...and I never, ever use the "instant-light" type charcoal as I find this lends the meat to a lighter-fluid taste. I divide the pit into two halves...adding more charcoal to one side of the pan then the other to create a hotte...

Betadine (Povidone-Iodine) is a much, much better disinfectant for wounds than alcohol or peroxide.

Just noticed this http://www.kh1231.com/views.asp?hw_id=294 which looks identical so it's almost certainly a fake :( In that listing you posted I noticed that the pictured knife has CPMS30V on the blade but in the specs underneath the picture the steel is listed as 440C. Not only that they have the...

Get a thick leather boot strap, load it with your favorite stropping compound, then strop it back and forth across the hook to polish the edge.

You've pretty much limited yourself to the Native or Manix 2 but then there's always the FG UKPK for a few bucks more but no lock. Honestly, my first choice would be a Chinook 3 hands down. It's a beast and the back lock is intuitively simple compared to the BBL of the Manix 2 or the Compression Loc...

I was looking at STR's blog, and he has Titanium Pry Bars for sale for pretty cheap. I ordered two hoping that I would save my spydies. I'm not really sure how big they are, but I can post a picture when I get them. Here is a link to him mentioning it in his blog. http://strsbackyardknifeworks.blog...

I did not even realize he was the seller, until I just looked. This may have explained the mystery.
