Re: V-TOKU2 Delica has been released

Just opened my package from GPK (with another Delica, as luck would have it). The color is verrrrry cool! Stainless clip and SUS410, if there's still confusion about that. Can't wait to try the steel!

Re: V-TOKU2 Delica has been released

Why not grab a Red G10 one while you can? I love mine. A blue G10 one would be sweet. Especially if it was "blurple" blue G10 with a black TiCN coated solid SRS-15 blade and hardware! It's a nice combo, but I'm just not looking for a coated Delica. Blue is my color and ever since Sa...

Re: V-TOKU2 Delica has been released

GPKnives emailed me, and then I stared at one in my cart for ten minutes or so before hitting The Button. I love Delicas, and I love blue. Still waiting on that blue G-10! I may be in for a Stretch too if money allows, or if its drop occurs within 30 days of any sort of holiday that I can use to jus...

Re: Very DISAPPOINTED w/ laminated steel sprint runs

I mean yeah, there should be a good bit of edge steel exposed for the entire length of the edge. But overall unevenness should be expected and welcomed given what we're dealing with here. When you consider the thickness of the layers and the angles at which they are ground, and then consider the pro...

Re: 2018 Spyderco Forum Knife! Info & Sign-up

I think its actually a solid oval insert. It would require some precise and delicate milling to fit that web. It would be also be a time consuming process and I would expect the price to reflect that. That's what I would think, but this is Spyderco we're talking about! I just can't tell from the ph...

Re: 2018 Spyderco Forum Knife! Info & Sign-up

Nice touch! I'm curious about the inlay, though I'm not sure how to word the question. Is it a solid oval, or just the open web with the handle's G-10 in between?

Re: Happy with the Diversity.

Oh diversity in all forms is a wonderful thing, and Spyderco has it in spades! My collection isn't that large, but it's so diverse in knife size, design, and materials that it's been a long time since I couldn't pick up the exact knife I wanted for the day ahead of me. Sometimes I just want a simple...

Re: Toughest stainless steel ?

Toughness, then, isn't a property that the steel possesses solely due to its composition. This is just the same as asking: "which stainless steel is harder?"...[and other good points]... Nailed it (pun?). These questions are practically impossible to answer correctly and the manner in whi...

Re: Too Many Exclusives?

I kinda think of Sprints and Exclusives as being the same thing. I understand the difference between the two but as the end user it all feels the same. Well the big difference is that an exclusive may be produced more than once, diluting the rarity for collector-types (I'm not one). I could see the...

Re: Too Many Exclusives?

I love the variety, and while most of the recent exclusives are a total miss for me and some themes are getting a little out of hand (looking at you, BHQ!), it's always exciting when one comes along that they clearly commissioned with me in mind. It's not that I want them to do less, it's that I wan...

Re: KnifeCenter Exclusive HAP40 Pakkawood Dragonfly

Lots of dark on mine, which I don't mind at all since the front and back are decently matched. It has a kind of charred look to it, which is kinda cool. :) I love it! It kind of gives it more of an antique flavor, worn by the ages, but only in appearance. Maybe even like it survived something epic....

Re: Looking for opinions on the Positron good or not so good

I took the bait on the KC version at the current discount. I mean, for that price, how can I not? It's a flipper, it's a steel I don't have a folder in, it's in my preferred size range, and probably most importantly, it's orange (my second favorite color)! Yeah, it's not the slickest knife and it's ...

Re: Bad steel experience?

Well I don't know what you're doing to your knives, but I've never had anything chip macroscopically, even super carbide steels like S110V under the heavy loads of plastic straps on meat boxes. The only bad experience I've had with a steel is with S35VN on a knife I made. I had Peter's harden it and...

Re: Chaparral Raffir Noble vs Vrango

Oh man. My two favorites of the past year! I've been carrying both a lot lately and I am in love with both, but the Noble Chap has a conventional blade shape that we're all familiar with and is probably the safer bet if you're looking for a user. Now I've been using my Vrango a bunch too and that ed...

I mean, I guess it could help with pulling the knife from your pocket, but the side effects have to be severe! Imagine laying down on the couch with that thing in your pocket? Or bumping into a wall? Yeehooooow!

Re: supergold2 confirmation?

A nice surprise. That lock bar is a pretty unique touch! I can always use another Delica, but I've enacted a pretty strict moratorium on black handles. I'm gonna watch from the sidelines on this one. I'm really interested to see what everyone has to say about the steel!

Hah good point Kango! I don't think whoever came up with that line was a veterinarian! Still, with the amount of treats my pup gets in exchange, she's happy to take a needle. RS, I would looooove a Ti version. Unfortunately I could barely afford the premium on the stainless model, nevermind the $300...

Re: ATR 2 first impressions

I've got mine in my pocket right now. I waited multiple years for this day, as many have. It's pretty good, but I really don't think I'm gonna keep it. It is about half an ounce lighter, but it's thicker. One thing I love about the original is it's thin slick handles. The thickness is probably prefe...

Re: Detent / Para 3 & 2 ?

I'd rate my examples medium to weak on the detent scale. They're all certainly sufficient, but I can wrist flick most of them open with varying degrees of ease. The 3's are more secure, though probably mostly due to the shorter length.
