Mystery Spyderco sighting

I was thumbing through the Hale Groves Christmas catalog when I came across this picture: https://i.imgur.com/PGHbKDFh.jpg It sort of looked like a Worker at first, with that swedge, but it doesn't appear to have the characteristic hump on the blade. I thought it was still a pretty cool, if a bit ra...

Re: More Left Handed Knives?

I've always thought right handed compression locks were easier to use with my left hand. It feels more natural to use my left thumb to disengage the lock than the fingers on my right hand.

Re: manbug wharncliffe chat

I'm currently carrying a Manbug Leaf that is a proto that we made. I carried the Wharnie Manbug quite a bit and was quite pleased with it. I think the Manbug Leaf might be even more useful. The Manbug Leaf is being built now. I think I'd like the original VG-10 version, a K390 version and a SPY2 ve...

Linerless all the way for me.

Less to rust.
Simpler construction.

Re: Long Timers: How has this forum changed?

I mostly ignored SEF and Cliff Stamp, so I don't really notice their absence. It seems to me most discussions these days are endless threads talking about bringing back random old designs that never sold well in the first place, or yet another variation of the same 4 or 5 models in different steels ...

A Native sized folder with solid FRN handle scales (no liners, no pockets) and handle forward design (no choils).

Re: why does the lil' native have minimal jimping?

Just like what the subject says. The lil' native is smooth in the finger choil and generally smooth on the spine except for a 3 grooves (jimps?) adjacent to the liner. I'm just curious why the design choice to make this generally smooth. In contrast, the dragonfly, native 5, and shaman have more ji...

Re: Has Anyone Used a Spyderco Folder for Field Dressing?

I used a serrated Police model to field dress a deer when I was in high school. It wasn't the best, but it worked in the moment.

Other than the DF2, I have no interest in owning a knife that has a finger choil.

Re: Jimping on the back of handles

I find that as long as a handle is well designed, jimping isn't necessary at all and in many cases is more a detriment than an aid.

I'm kind of glad I ended up deciding against this one. I think I would have rather had a normal handle style without the finger hole.

Spyderco Dragonfly. Minimal fasteners, no liners. Carries well with or without the pocket clip.

It's definitely an improvement over the stock Manix scales. I don't know that I've ever seen such superfluous jimping on a handle before.
