Re: Any Cigar Smokers, here is something friend sent.

A genuinely sharp blade works fine without any built-in guide, if you don't have the dexterity (or sharpening skills) for that, or are a few brandies in, then the double guillotines are very functional and require minimal skill. If I was ever to pick up a cigar again it would be a Schimmelpenninck o...

Re: Anyone use a Straight/Artist Club/Shavette razor?

I gave straights a try, but it's really a whole different pursuit than safety razor shaving... in the morning, half awake in the shower, what I need is a clean shave without drama, blood or red skin, not a test of my skill, commitment and technique. If you truly want to pursue shaving as a hobby, ar...

Re: Knife & Watch

People said the same things when digital watches came out. I don't think analog watches will ever die out. They haven't in 50+ years. If it wasn’t for the Swatch watch it was looking pretty grim. Not many Swiss brands survived the Quartz crisis. Most brands are owned by 3 majority companies. Most h...

Re: Gravel Bikes

ahh, if it's a 3 piece crank set, then the click or creak is likely the square taper of the crank to axle interface. I've been running 2 piece cranks for as long as I could afford them, they're another indispensable item of modern technology, IMO. Even forged crank arms will be significantly lighter...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I haven't made any this year, but.... Very nice! I think I might appreciate a stiffer brush, but I’m a little concerned by the animal welfare side of things to jump into badger without a very long and careful look, tbh. That's a stone you don't want to turn over... I'm very torn over using Badger k...

Re: Gravel Bikes

.... I also got a new bottom bracket delivered, since I've been unable to get rid of a particular creaking sound. Fingers crossed that this solves it, and also that I'm able to figure it out tonight. .... Press-in BBs are one of the WORST "innovations" in recent bike tech! If your frame a...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I prefer firm and scrubby knots, with springy bristles, so the only synthetics I've found that even get close are the Omega Hi Brush black and to a lesser extent Simpsons Tafalgar (tips are too soft). I also own a Yaqi Moka and RazoRock Bruce that I don't hate, but they're just too floppy for my tas...

This is really the only hotly anticipated Spyderco of '22 for me :(

...unless more MagnaCut makes it into production, or the "High Performance" Delica lands.

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I have the RR GC in .68 and .84. I vastly prefer the Henson for a mild, smooth, but efficient shave. The GC's are really good, but the Hensons leave most razors in the dust so it is not a mark against RR. Oh, I agree, the Hensons are amazing, but not every razor is for every shaver... and IMHO all ...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

oh, the SLOC is no "original", it's a (Chinese?) zamak head that literally *anyone* can (and do) slap their own name/logo on and sell it. if you really like mild-ish safety razors that are still very efficient, then eventually it might be worth trying the RazoRock Game Changer .68 Open Com...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

Lyssa was a seasonal (pretty sure it ran concurrently with Hallows one year?) scent from a few years back and seems to have never been re-issued... there is however old stock still to be had. the scent: Despite no longer possessing an olfactory nerve, zombified subjects are inexplicably repelled by ...

Awesome find! His head is flattened down a bit, so it looks like you caught some cool shots in one of its defense postures too. They’re getting more rare to see these days. Were you by chance exploring the Cape Cod National Seashore? Yep, in the dunes on the way out to the Race Point beach, actuall...
