When you say "first production run", are you referring to the non skeletonized solid liner version?

Szabo folder. For such a big knife, it does carry well.

Smells like teen spirit...

Paying homage to the classic Spyderco shape, setting a new standard in manufacturing fit, finish, and tolerances, and delivering everything in an exquisitely usable package: the Nirvana.

Re: When did Spyderco start marking blades with Steel type?

I have a Spydie Economy, which started production in '84; mine is stamped AUS-6. Production ran until '94. I'm fairly certain I purchased mine in '92...but memory.

Re: Advice re: Raffle

My advice would be to stick to a model with a stainless blade since you don't know the type of owner the winner will be. If they don't keep that M4 wiped down and/or oiled, it could surprise them with rust not knowing any better (potentially). Just a thought. I would love to win a GB2 btw! Edit: ab...

Re: Advice re: Raffle

Thanks - I've already been getting estimates from knifemakers associated with BF; I'm also guessing that my primary audience will be BF members, and perhaps another forum or two. My concerns: a person who only has the cash for one ticket knows that somebody else could well buy 10 tickets, would she/...

Advice re: Raffle

I'm pulling together a raffle which will benefit The MPN Research Foundation (MPNResearchFoundation.org). My idea is to raffle off a customized Gayle Bradley 2 folder. I'm looking for feedback in the following areas: -Is there a better choice than a GB 2? I am leaning towards that because it's popul...

Re: Help: ID, please

Welcome to the wonderful world of Spyderco knives, where undocumented variations are the rule rather than the exception. Fair enough. That's one of the things that threw me when I researched; I couldn't find any mention of an Endura with the attributes mine has - so this is probably the best inform...

Re: Sal, hope to hear from you

I was talking with a friend who collects flippers, amongst other things - he's a big Zero Tolerance fan. He said that he's had the opportunity to use a Spyderco Southard for an extended period, and that it was amazing. He did prefer the Domino - not for its action, but for its ergos. He feels that a...

Lots of good information there.
If I'm reading correctly, my knife doesn't exist according to that resource - my knife is stainless handled, AUS-8. What gives?

Re: Help: ID, please

Thanks to everybody - was sure it was the Endura, but I don't have any resource to get to model number; also didn't know when the Endura was made in all stainless. It's got such simple, classic lines uninterrupted by anything.

Re: My Mantra May Not Make it Out of the Box

Got the Mantra today. Was stiff at first but after an hour or less of flipper flicks, it works perfectly. It's a keeper. If over time the action fails for any reason I will just make good on the warranty. But why borrow trouble? Can I change the title of the thread? I'm glad you like it. It's my un...

Re: Biggest Spyderco jackpot of 2016

Nirvana NIB but secondhand for $315 was the biggest money pot.

Getting back into knives after a long absence was the biggest jackpot overall, and of all time, for me.
