If I understand correctly, toughness is a term that in my limited experience is best described dealing with swords. A sword with a ZDP-189 blade will be razor sharp but chip or even shatter when hit with another sword. That is why ZDP-189 or another very hard steel may be used as the core of a lami...

Are you using a Sharpmaker or benchstone? My guess is that the bevels on the kitchen knife are too blunt, well over 40 deg., so you're not hitting the edge. You could try marking it with a sharpie to see if the edge is where you're sharpening. I personally take an oilstone with a coarse and medium s...

I have XHP in Cat 4 with ZDP-189, that's from the Manix 2 I tested before so they are close in edge retention from my testing. I will be testing the XHP Military also and ranking it, will also be getting it RC tested so we can see what it is. Interesting. I guess I did underestimate the edge-holdin...

I think its time for a :spyder: Military 2 instead of a Sprint run  I'd rather give them another year or 3 to get it perfect :D With so many other models going, Military 2 is going to take a lot of time since it's redesigning a flagship model, planned with a brand new lock (not sure if that's...

Here you go. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/TomBerry/CTX-XHPMilli.jpg Niiiiice. Very glad they went with the stainless clip rather than the DLC one. Absolutely love the color, probably my favorite G-10 color for a knife. I love earth tones like foliage, OD green, tan and brown. Can't wait t...

It doesn't seem to micro-chip like S30V has been reported to do on stuff like cardboard. I haven't had any problems with chipping on my Manix 2, although it is a pretty thick grind. However, the edge is still pretty fine, as the bevels are actually a bit under 30 deg. on mine. I don't have the exten...

I don't get why tiny little inconsistencies that may or may not occur, and most would not notice, are a big deal at all?? Every FRN Seki Japan knife I've gotten WORKS and LOOKS great. Everything else is just nitpicking over minutia (my main focus when buying a knife is not whether there might be one...

I have large hands (between XL and XXL glove size), and the Stetch 2 fits my hand perfectly. I agree that it is one of, if not the most comfortable knives out there. It is by far my favorite, and most used, FRN knife. I carry the plain-edge VG-10 version very often, in fact it is possibly my most ca...

I like the T-mag for subtle carry, although I wish it had a deep-carry clip (I need to order a UKPK clip and replace it, since they are interchangeable). Also, I switched the magnet on mine to a stronger one, so it works much better for me than it originally did. I quite like it--love the blade shap...

I'd say D2 is definitely more corrosion resistant than M4 (D2 is almost stainless). I believe M4 is MUCH tougher. D2 has been known to chip...M4 is an extremely tough and strong steel, that is very unlikely to chip majorly during regular use. I'd have to guess that M4 holds a better edge than D2. Ad...

Hold up, I told a lie. My Delica4 w/ZDP-189 saber grind blade has a BRG FRN handle, not black. My Delica4 w/ZDP-189 FFG blade also has a BRG FRN handle. The ONLY difference in the knives is the grind of the blade and the SKU # is the same on the box. I didn't mean to lie, it just comes natura...

Good call on the D'Fly 2. I think the Dragonfly G-10 would be the best money clip. Anything with a wire clip will work. Also the Kopa seems like it would make a good one. Also I think I've heard of people using the Cricket for one. The upcoming Chaparral looks like it would be an excellent money cli...
