If funds allow then yes. Flying in from South Africa is long and expensive.
Last year was my first and it was fun to meet so many people.

Cant comment on the GB2 but in general the later the safer with liner and frame locks in my opinion. So use and enjoy.

....The case 1 and the cover 6, which then have a hardness of up to 63 or 65 HRC...." So yes, basically LC200N Sal is testing in this platform :D and if the patent is correct with some experimentation we could see a blade of up to HRC 63 . In a production setting if Spyderco could run anything...

Re: stainless steels
Hi JD, We've tested it, many years ago when it first came out. We weren't satisfied with the results. I guess we can take another look at it if others agree. I'm currently testing N360 in a Pacific Salt prototype. sal This is interesting...I always thought we would see a Pac Salt or Salt 2 in LC200...

Re: Let's talk about Vanax
I had a look at the patent, or at least what I believe is the patent for Vanax. It covers quite a large field with regards to chemical makeup (patent containing 10 different chemical steels for testing) so I would not be surprised if they keep tweaking it as time goes by. Made for plastic mold indus...

Re: Gayle Bradley - 5 Year review
I was curious if your detent ball has flattened off over 5 years of use? Did you take it apart and loosen the tension against the blade by over bending it a bit? The reason I ask is when mine arrived, the tension was noticeably lower than my other two unused GBs, and the lockup seemed OK and looked...

Re: Gayle Bradley - 5 Year review
Love the look of a well used and grayed M4 blade. Looks like you're in a fairly dry climate? I haven't had a chance to watch the whole video yet. Correct, I live and work in a dry climate normally. The GB though has seen the coast from time to time and with one of my projects it can be around 107 d...

Gayle Bradley - 5 Year review
Below some thoughts on the Gayle Bradley 1 after 5 years of use. 1. The knife is one of the best production knives ever made in my opinion 2. The design is my personal preference as it does have more of a straight handle design compared to most Spydercos 3. No issue with the lock 4. Reground it quit...

Re: Military CQI
It was interesting tonsee the new Military CQI at Blade and to speak to Eric about it. As a fan of the original what I liked is that the new CQI do not have the original bushing type system the Para has, what I also noticed was the larger detent ball and better detent retention. The rest of the thin...

Re: Pondering AEB-L
Its a good steel when done right. Because AEB-L keeps popping up in several threads I'll post how I do my treatment of this steel. I highly recommend that you make 5 test coupons, heat the first one to 1900'f and plate quench, second to 1925'f, third one to 1950'f, 1975'f, 2000'f. This will give you...

VG-10, N690 (also 12c27, AEB-L and 14c28N) are my favorite steels before moving into Powdered Metals. Good quality steel at a good price. Cater the edge to suite your cutting tasks and enjoy your knife and steel.

Re: LC200n corrosion resistance
...Well Surfgringo, I'm glad we've chatted about this, the more I look at LC200N the more I admire and appreciate its qualities. I'm going to dig a little deeper and find out more. I think you were correct in your earlier idea. There is a tradeoff involved with the nitrogen steels. We have to trade...

Re: LC200n corrosion resistance
Excellent review, Lance! Thank you for the info on this steel. To the Aussies here: Would a Lc200N blade be great for skinning and butchering water buffaloes and for outdoor work in the bush of the land down under? Not an Aussie but a South African, I have used Nitrobe77 in harder tasks than skinni...

Re: Would you buy an AEB-L Military?
I raise the BS flag. I say based on practical experience it would probably do well at low angles and high hardness. Anything else is a pure waste. So based on production blade manufacturing considerations, if youre wanting AEBL to perform well you'll be pretty disappointed unlessyou're going to tur...
