As far as field usage goes, what are the pros and cons of H1 vs VG-10? I know H-1 won't rust, and VG-10 is very rust-resistant, too. I read on some threads that H-1 can scratch easilly?

I appreciate your take on this but I would like to point something out. What about the advances we see such as in areas such as Dip Pen nano lithography, DNA nanomachines, protein engineering, and the rest? Wouldn't those be a way to bootstrap us into synthetic molecular assemblers? Let's say we ca...

Nanotechnology and the future of knives and more
Hello everyone. I am sure some of you know of the new field called Molecular Nanotechnology or molecular manufacturing. A good overview can be found at http://www.molecularassembler.com I would like to get a discussion going here with anyone who is interested in this and how it will bring new devel...

Future Knives
You all made some interesting statements. I am convinced that true full-fledged nanotechnology will revolutionize knife ware. Read the book by Neal Stephenson, "The Diamond Age". He describes an update to an old scifi concept, the "chain sword". It has been shown that with molec...

There is also a man named ROBERT JOB who has remade Damascus Wootz Steel. His website is here: http://www.jenlaurltd.com/aboutus.html Job has stated that the nanotube metallofullerene steel can be used to make amazing knives, and, it can also be used to make a diamond/steel alloy. This was written ...

Pacific Salt knives for diving and fishing?
When it comes to the Pacific Salt, both plain-edge and Spyder-Edge, would you all recommend these for both diving uses, as well as deep sea/salt water fishing? Would the Pacific Salt do well when processing large fish such as tuna, shark, swordfish, and the like, or would you stick with fillet and ...

Spyderco Story Book: How can it be reprinted?
The Spyderco Story is one of the best books ever written, in my honest opinion. It is, ofcourse, out of print. Purely out of curiousity, how difficult, and how expensive would it be to reprint it, through a print on demand company, with Mr. Sal Glesser and Spyderco Knives' full permission, ofcourse...

Important Salt Question: Is there a difference between the SpyderHawk
I was looking at an online store catalog and I looked at the Spyderco Salt series for sale there. They list a Spyderco Spyderhawk Salt Yellow FRN Folder Pocket Knife (Satin PLN) C77PYL and elsewhere I have seen the Spyderco TASMAN Salt. Both have a Hawbill blade. My question: Are these two differen...

Saber vs Flat Grind: Which is better?
I was examining my Spyderco Endura with the saber grind and it really appeals to me for cutting chores, feel in the hand, and cosmetic looks. What do others here think? Which is the most practical and the best cosmetically, saber or flat grind or hollow grind?

Spyderco for Space Travel
I happen to be an advocate for space travel and space expansion, and a fan of Spyderco Knives. My question: What are some of the best Spyderco knives for use in space, for when human beings start to seriously live and work and play there, in colonies, in habitats, space stations, and the rest? New ...

Spyderco Delica Wave
Regarding the Spyderco Delica Emerson Wave, would you say this is a good all-around use knife, like the Delica without the Wave feature? A related question: This may sound silly but if necessary, would the steel wave opener be able to be a sword blade-catcher and breaker, or would that not be possi...

Why are so many Pakistani etc knives so low quality?
Alright, first of all, I will be clear: This question is not a put down of Pakistani people in general. My question centers on knife and steel quality. Why does it seem that most knives and cutting tools made in countries like Pakistan and China seem to be inferior in quality of materials than kniv...

Questions about Spyderco UK Pen Knives
I have some questions about the UK Pen Knife. As far as an everyday carry knife, how do you all rate this line? I know it is a SlipIt, and does not lock, and is the blade in the 2-3 inch size range? I received confusion messages because on one site it says the blades use the GIN stainless steel, an...

I would like to ask everyone some questions about the Spyderco Endura 4 knives, both the Ernest Emerson Wave model and the regular Endura 4. 1 If all you had was a Spyderco Endura 4, would it make a suitable survival knife in say a castaway on a Pacific island survival tool? say you had to rely on ...
