Thanks for posting those pics, Chinook. First I ever laid eyes on the forum version. Gotta say it improves the look of the Military about 50%, or more, in my book. Think maybe I'll have to start watching for one to come available one of these days when I have some $$.

I'm one of those getting pretty tired of black. On some knives it looks best, I guess, but I find myself liking almost any knife with some color to it. I say go for the same bright red as the Snap-Its on AG Russell. I think it is hard to think of that color and weapon. Tool may be a reach, but that ...

As that wise sage Alfred E. Neuman used to say, "Don't worry, be happy!" Think you're having a touch of buyer's remorse. The best thing about that on knives that aren't super expensive, is that soon you can buy the other one too. Merlin is good! Merlin is good! Harpy can wait! Harpy can wa...

I'm no expert on sharpening, but a couple facts stand out. The surface you're using to sharpen the steel must be harder than the steel, or it's components. CPM440V has a lot of vanadium carbides in them. They are harder than typical man-made benchstones. Ceramic rods are usually harder than the vana...

They weren't in the same class as the Spydies your talking about, and they've been discontinued, but CRKT did make some Mirages in a left-handed configuration. Might come up for sale at Blade Forums or Knife Forums. There is a forum at BF for stating what one would like to buy. Not sure what level o...

Cookie

About 2 weeks ago, suddenly decided to wipe out all the cookies in my Temporary Internet Files folder in Windows. Didn't touch my cookies file. Left the Spyderco cookie I saw with a quick glance in the Temporary Internet Files. The latter was to no avail. I haven't been recognized since when I logge...

Just better hope that nobody who can recognize you from the information you provide doesn't lurk here, and report you. Should something like that happen, your post here would make it impossible to attempt to pass off as forgetfulness. It is too bad that anybody can't carry a pocketknife at anytime, ...

If something like this should be set up, I believe it ought to be a separate forum, not part of this one. If there is a place with lots of traffic that allows the selling of knives for free, there will be flocks of folks jumping aboard just to sell knives. I'm not at all anxious to go sifting throug...

Though Roger's Spyderco selection isn't as wide as Knife Center's, the service from Bayou LaFourche matches anyones. They get orders out the door quickly. They've rebuilt their site, so more information about each knife is available than in the past. Generally, their prices are lower than all but a ...

Welcome to the forum, Tiz. Always glad to "see" a new face. Sure sounds like you got off to a good start on the knives you picked. Someday, maybe you'll read one of my diatribes about slick handles, but this isn't the time. I use TufGlide and TufCloth for protecting and lubing my knives. S...

I just spent half an hour looking back through threads via the search mechanism. Believe I used VG-10 for the search. I've practised this a bit, off an on. From my perspective, one has the interim position, right after the blade has snapped open and locked, where if one should have to grip the knife strongly, before being able to adjust it, one has a good grip on the edge. Mine's too sharp for that. Guess I'll stic...

Out of a hundred or so ELUs, you want to use the same one again?

Not me, thanks. I'd rather see a special run of the Wegner, Chinook or the large Calypso, or one of the soon to be released models.

I own both the Dyad and the Native. Have never handled the Chinook. The way I have my EDC carry rotation worked out, I carry the Native the most of any of my knives. I think it is great! It is sturdily made, easy to operate, I always close it one-handed, using my leg. Has a good point, and overall g...

All the knives in my EDC rotation, plus 2 of my 3 neck knives, are plain edge. Am thinking of adding my Avalanche to the rotation. It has a combo edge.

The only fully serrated blade I own is half of my Dyad. (Except my steak knives)

Virtually all the web vendors I use have a 1-800 # to call. Though the selection isn't the widest in Spydercos, one of my favorite vendors has been Bayou LaFourche. With great frequency, the only places who have lower prices are Discount knives -- from whom I'll never purchase -- and this Botach out...
