Micarta can warp?!? This is news to me.

It's tough to beat the Native- great ergos and blade steel and shape. But the Blue Ripple is pretty awesome too and a close second.

Yup, it's a friction folder- very well done too. The lever barely sticks out so you dont have to worry as much about an accidental opening.

As for politics... My main problem is that I just have such a weak patience for stupid people. Well, not stupid people per se, but stupid people who will argue thier stupid position so fervently and shamelessly. I am a Political Science major and it ends up throwing me in a quarrel with them every t...

Tasman Salt on RENO 911

I just saw a black Tasman Salt SE being used on the show Reno 911 to rip open a bunch of confiscated stuffed animal bunnies filled with cocaine. They got high in the process after they clipped a few of the bags inside and then just started going berserk on the bunnies.

Hi Redyps04, Thanx for the suggestion. We appreciate your thoughts. We've tried using small nested liners. We tried molding special inserts into the FRN. We still use a small carefully engineered nested liner in Eric's new lite-weight Manix2. If we're going to use a 4 way screw type clip in an FRN ...

How would you accomplish that without disassembling the knife, which would be contrary to Spyderco's policy? It would depend on if it had a backspacer or not. If it was an open frame design like the Military this would be easy- when you take the screws out, you would just let the tiny liner simply ...

It would probably work fine on a knife where only one mounting position was provided although it wouldn't be any thinner than the same knife with a single full nested liner. Securing the unused mini liners, especially TU carry ones, on a knife drilled for 4 way carry might be a problem. It would al...

Yeah, it would make it more expensive to have a 4 or even 2 way clip. Although on a model like the Military or the Starmate where it's tip down, right hand only, I wouldn't be opposed to have a small nested liner on the left side so at least the clip is reversible. I didn't even think about that, b...

Question/idea for the Spydercrew

I've heard Sal say before the necessity of liners sometimes comes not necessarily out of the need for added strength, but for the purpose of having something to secure the clip screws to. Given that some of the more gentleman-ly knives don't need the added strength of the liners, but yet need the se...

If an "alien invasion/zombie apocalypse" really were to happen, lets try to reasonable for a second. I would guess gold would be the last thing you would want. I think investing in a can of beans would probably suit your needs better.

I realize this might sound a bit grumpy or antagonistic, but does it really take over 2 and 1/2 years to move a knife from prototype to store shelves? I am anxious about it, but mostly I am just really curious.

The Lum is pure elegant classiness. Some might be afraid of thier hands slipping up on the handle, but I really don't see this as a problem. It's definatly not a long/hard use/ tactical knife, but the handle fits amazingly well. Excellent design.
