I'll tolerate liner and frame locks if I like the knife... but I'm never going to like them.

Bwahahahaha!
I've had two left-handed liner locks in the past. One of them I still have. I'd actually carry it... if I was time traveling back to the 1990's when liner locks were a thing.

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!

I don't know whether I'm intrigued, suffering from FOMO, or if I should just set my alarm for next Wednesday morning and try to forget about it until then.

It's supposed to rain heavily next week, so I'll be stuck inside anyway. Might as well do a bit of Mule Hunting.

Re: Spyderco backlocks : why is the stop pin an exception, instead of being the norm ?

Finally, arcuate slots take up a lot of space, so they require knife designs with fairly broad handles and blade ricassos. The shape of the Chaparral does that well; the Delica and Endura, not so much. Thanks, Mike. For us regular folks who don't design knives, little details like this are helpful....

Re: Spyderco backlocks : why is the stop pin an exception, instead of being the norm ?

Yeow. This is my first time seeing something like that. Getting the pin to bottom out at the same time as the lock drops looks like a whole 'nother level of difficulty.

Re: Sneaky Sneaky Shot Show Reveals

Kinda bummed out that the new rex steel will again be in that burned Orange. It makes spydies look like something that was put in a display in the sun for 20 years that nobody ever wanted to buy… A three dollar bottle of Rit Dye will turn those burnt orange scales into a shade of red to match your ...

sturdy linerless handles out of FRN/FRCP is really kind of an "art" - just like implementing 15V in knives"

I look at the injection molded handles are elegant in their simplicity.
The complications have been removed, leaving only the lovely handles.

Re: Sneaky Sneaky Shot Show Reveals

Manix 2 LW in 15V - Great to see this obviously amazing steel in not "only" the "standard" G10 with liners, but also in the imo ingenious and light FRCP version! I really, really like my Manix 2 15V Heavyweight. It's a joy to carry and use. But the ONE thing it lacks is that it'...

All I'm sure of is that I want to get a taste of REX121.
But I can't make up my mind which knife I'd like to see it in.

I’ve just had an email from DACK with up to 48% off Spyderco for the next 24hrs.
Their listings are super-difficult to navigate, but they have some smokin' deals. I just ordered a Manix 2 LW with BD1N for my brother in law.

Yes, indeed. I was in my teens when that series was released, and I bought them all. There were about fifteen, total. They're currently on a bookshelf downstairs. On the same shelf is another Time Life series on various Earth sciences. It is equally well done. At one time I thought I'd give them awa...

Re: Would a D'Allara 4 with CBBL interest anyone?

I've never looked at a D'Allara, probably because the lock doesn't appeal to me. But ANYTHING with a CBBL would get my attention. Its similarity to Benchmade's AXIS lock is what brought me here in the first place.

Re: Anyone else talk crap about how many Mules they were going to buy? And then life caught up...

Not so much. Although I have succumbed to the hype and purchased a few that I didn't really need. The Magnacut Mule comes to mind. And the PM2 15V. I dumped both of those. But before I say on the forum that I WANT something, I ask myself if it's really true. The boys and girls at Spyderco read what ...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Do you think this will be polished enough or should I go mirror mode? Is it best to use shovel head leading or shovel head trailing strokes??? I'm afraid that a polished edge like that won't be very useful. It won't be able to cut much dirty rope in a storm. You should use a coarser stone for optim...
