Hi Simsmac, I think that Jabba probably hit the nail on the head. Some makers are better at some types of designs or materials. Some makers are better at higher volume designs. As we grow our US facility, we also have trading partners that we've been dealing with for many years (30+ in some cases) ...

Nice picture! The smooth scales were quite different to me too. I've grown to like them though.

On what knife were you seeking info? None in particular, it was just a question that popped into my head while I was browsing this thread. Thanks for the response. :) Another question that comes to mind is this: what determines where a knife is manufactured? Specifically, I notice an influx of Taiw...

Gonna repeat my question, since it seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle:

Is the steel choice for the prototypes usually what is used for production?

Wow, that Carpenter has a great looking blade shape! It's reminiscent of the Persian's blade without the clip point. The shape of the handle reminds me of a Manix without the choil. Love the frame lock. God I want this one... :)

I don't see the Lum Tanto listed there. I'm pretty sure no one has it up for pre-order this early in the design process...

I was under the impression that this model was in prototype stage still. Am I wrong?

how noticeably is the weight difference between the hollow and FFG manix 2? Hollow grind is 5oz, and FFG is 4.25oz. In-hand, the difference is quite apparent; the skeletonized liners and the extra metal taken off the blade really cut down on weight of the FFG version. I'm not really sure which vers...

Glad to see another fan of the normal hollow grind Manix 2! I have both a FFG and a hollow grind one, and I love them both. Both blade grinds have strengths and weaknesses that complement each other nicely.

I always eagerly await the annual appearance of this thread. You take such awesome photos Mr Blonde! Nice work. Models I am in love with already: H1 Dragonfly- I love the look of the hollow grind and the yellow FRN. This is gonna be a winner. Dyad- I've always been drawn to the design of the origina...

EDCF is working for me.
Looks like EDCF is back up now. :) Sounds like a pain for CPF. :(

CPF and EDCF both have the newer, glitchier version of VB. They've both had trouble with it in the past, so I'm wondering if that's what's going on now... Hopefully not.

It definitely won't charge while it's in your pocket, if that's what you're asking. :p
