Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread
Post up some of these knives, 10dps isn't common to see! My personal lowest is around 12-13. Here are a couple bad pictures that show the bevel widths on factory knives versus a regrind and a thinner factory knife. The Military is at around 8 degrees per side and has not had a regrind. It was .020”...

Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread
I’m going to get my CPM 15V reground to be very thin. The problem will be finding a knifemaker that wants to deal with knocking a .025” thick 15V edge down to .006”-.007”. I just had Tom Krein do some regrinds for me so I don’t want to bug him again so soon. I’d love for Shawn to do it since his lo...

Re: Stretch 2 XL Cru-Wear vs Ayoob Cru-Wear
I’m still considering the Ayoob. I’m very happy so far with the Stretch 2 XLso far. No lock rock, even grinds, centered, great QC. Just have a slightly uneven edge bevel on the clip side near the tip which will get fixed the first time I sharpen it. While I wish it was thinner at the edge I realize ...

Re: Stretch 2 XL in grey G10 and CruWear steel!
Mine came and is really well built, well centered, tight lock, etc. on the right hand side at the tip the bevel is uneven, likely because the person sharpening it really increased the angle as they got towards the tip. Nothing I won’t take out the first time I sharpen it, it will just make it take l...

Re: Stretch 2 XL Cru-Wear vs Ayoob Cru-Wear
Are you able to measure the thickness behind the edge bevel for both knives? I should be getting my Cruwear Stretch on Monday but I’m curious how thin they are leaving the factory. I love thin slivers, and the Cruwear Stretch XL seems to fit the bill well.

Re: Stretch 2 XL in grey G10 and CruWear steel!
You wouldn’t happen to have some calipers to measure the thickness behind the edge, would you? It sure looks nice and thin, certainly thinner than the .025” edge on my Police 4 from the factory. Just in and slight burr , did a stop , razor sharp. Thank you Beau ! https://i.postimg.cc/htGkh6GD/E4-B86...

Re: Stretch 2 XL in grey G10 and CruWear steel!
Just snagged one from National Knives. I’m really looking forward to this one. I like thin edges and long blades like my Native Chief and Police 4, and really like Cruwear a lot. Once I saw this one announced I knew I’d end up getting one.

Re: 3.8"razor blade
I’m always a sucker for a very thin blade. I just got a custom slip joint that is a 2.6” AEB-L blade at ~62.5 RC, .058” stock, and an edge that was a true zero grind when made, and ~.001” after a tiny edge was sharpened into it before shipping it to me. So I like thin for most of the cutting I do, w...

Re: Z-Wear Shaman lookout thread
Any time! I checked every hour or two and lucked in to them, and posted in here as soon as my orders went through. If you get the OpFocus discount it is extra sweet to get it at SFO due to the 50% discount.

Re: Z-Wear Shaman: availability discussion & lookout thread
I’m looking forward to this one. I did manage to get the Micarta CPM Cruwear model, but haven’t used it yet due to having other, thinner blades which I prefer for EDC. I’d like to make one my user for heavy tasks, and I’d probably send one off to be reground far thinner at the edge. The ergonomics o...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?
I called Blade HQ and was told that the winners started being reached out to by Blade HQ yesterday. So if you haven’t heard then you were not picked. If I recall I think the lottery said that you have 2 days to claim it, so I’d imagine if some knives are claimed a few people will get the chance to g...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?
I’m very happy with my purchase from National Knives. This is my first Shaman, and the Cruwear blade is what brought me to wanting the knife. The Micarta is a nice, unique touch that looks great. Generally I prefer more texture on my handles for traction, but the sculpted handles and ergonomics on t...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?
I got strung along by KC on a preorder before, and won’t go that route again. I kept hearing to be patient as they would be getting a few more shipment. Obviously it never came. Hopefully they are more cautious on allowing more pre-orders than they are likely to get allocated.

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?
I’m hoping I manage to get one of these. I’ve been waiting to try out the Shaman, and I like Cruwear a lot. It balances ease of sharpening, toughness, and wear resistance well. I probably would have got a Shaman earlier, but I’ve been carrying my Native Chief since it came out. The contoured scales ...

Re: Extra coarse/low grit stropping
This is all somewhat interesting because I've thought that maybe taking a super refined, razor sharp edge and making it more "toothy" might indeed enhance the results for certain types of cutting jobs. Personally after chatting with Ankerson I'm starting to get away from stropping in gene...
