Paramilitary blade thickness

I remember Sal mentioned it will be 3 inche thick blade. Would making it 4 inches ruin a lot of its cutting performance? since it's a flat ground blade, wouldn't it rather add more rigidity and power than comprimising its cutting capability? Actually, this is the only numbered knife that I own so far. It's exactly the same one as sc_rebel1957's shown except for the serrations.
Guess mine should be one of the first production knives...

Mine is a SP25SE. and I have another question regarding the number etched on the blade. It says 216, and not 216 of somthing unlike others like 216/500 for example.
What does the number stand for? Does it still mean it be one of the limited editions or what?
