Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
Hello Spyderco fans. New guy here. I have been a fan of the sage series for a long time and have been collecting them for years. I just ordered the last knife I was missing for this collection. What do you all think will be the next knife in this series or what would you like to see? I would person...

Re: Chaparral
I really like my Chap since I got custom (a bit thicker than the original ones) carbon fiber handles for the FRN model. But I don't understand what the 'laser beam edge' is supposed the mean. The Thickness BTE is very comparable to most other EDC-oriented Spydercos. Yes, as far as I can tell with m...

Re: EDC Hygiene: Fixed Blade VS. Folder
I really don’t understand how people run into “food prep” tasks outside of a kitchen so often that EDC knives need to touch food. Do you people lack teeth? Two fold answer: 1.) Yes, I do "run into food prep outside the (my) kitchen" quite often. I am lot on the road by car or bike when wo...

Re: EDC Hygiene: Fixed Blade VS. Folder
Huh, many of these answers surprise me, but I guess not everybody has suffered major health problems like most of my family has. I am what I would say is not unreasonably careful about what I touch before eating. At public restaurants I don't use my hands directly to touch much. I have a premature ...

Re: EDC Hygiene: Fixed Blade VS. Folder
I’ve been musing a little more over this and the more I consider it the more I think a basic Mora with the loose fitting plastic sheath would probably be best suited to your needs. The plastic handle is moulded onto the blade and is a tight seal, the sheath covers not just the blade but most of the...

Re: EDC Hygiene: Fixed Blade VS. Folder
Honestly as someone with a below average immune system Im interested in this answer. I've always been left scratching my head when someone lists food prep as one of their factors for liking or carrying an edc knife design, especially a folder. I just can't wrap my head around the idea of having a k...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Endela SE, the knife that finally made me generally prefer "teeth" over plain edge in Soyderco folders. Always a great choice, though I also always and still wish the blade would be more handle filling and the knife thus offer a bit more cutting edge (hope they'll "fix" that if w...

Re: Is this the knife everyone clamors for?
... I have one of these and I do like it. It'd be even better if it was not so wide in the pocket, like, ummm, I don't know, a 3.5" Native. :winking-tongue Yeah, a 3.5" Native would be a pretty different knife... as you say, slimmer (thinner, less tall) in pocket, but also a lot lighter (...

Re: My First Bento Box Shop Experience
Other than a dislike of their prices and return policy, ..... SOME prices are actually really good, like for the above mentioned HAP40 Endura (on average they very well might be higher than usual, never checked that). And someone pointed out a potential advantage of their return policy: This makes ...

Re: My First Bento Box Shop Experience
Funny you mentioned them. I was pleasantly surprised by receiving the HAP40 Endura today, that I ordered from them on Wednesday! ... Congrats! I think the 125 USD they charge for the HAP40 Endura really are almost a steal. My personal favorite PE folder (this exact version) of all times. I also got...

Re: VG10 HRC
I'll take your word for it. I've never watched a YouTube knife review. I prefer to form my own opinions Same here, obviously. ;) Occasionally watching Youtube knife "reviews" (mostly not "reviews" to me anyway as I tried to explain) of course has nothing to do with not "for...

Re: VG10 HRC
I had a girlfriend tell me "It's not fair that your hands can be that soft. I know what you do for a living." And yes, if I pick up a knife or other tool and immediately feel sharp spots digging into my hands, I have enough experience to know what those spots are going to do when I start ...

Re: VG10 HRC
I don't watch much YouTube reviews. The one's that I watched were not very knowledgeable about knives, at least by my standards. ... I really don't mean to bash on anyone, but I think many Youtube "reviewers" should just call themselves what they actually are: "First impression of kn...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run
I bought this OG Catcherman back in the mid-90s for, I believe, $49.95, and used the heck out of it for many years. It's easily my most abused knife, left in the tackle box or ice chest with saltwater and fish blood on it for months at a time. Action is still pretty good, and it sharpens up as well...

Re: VG10 HRC
3 tests; Average = 59.7 This is typical. Old and new VG-10 the same. sal Thanks, Sal! So obviously my "unscientific gut feeling" that "new" VG10 has a bit better edge retention than "old" one is not grounded in reality. Perhaps it is just that cause my older Seki VG10 ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
The blade is now 3” from tip to the scales, and the handle is now 4”, making the full open length 7”. It is definitely a choil only knife now if you want to have all four fingers on the handle. https://i.imgur.com/q1UIyNV.jpeg Thanks for the info! Again, these looks give the "Shaman" (not...

Re: This knife should be in production…My dream hunting knife put together.
I use a deep carry on this knife for a very specific reason and its not to conceal the knife. When wearing my rifle on a shoulder sling, I found the butt end of my rifle stock would tap against the top of the exposed portion of the knife when using a regular clip. Using this deep carry clip elimina...

Re: VG10 HRC
Thanks! I’ve been really surprised with the VG10 on my Delica I bought last year. No chips or rolls and the retention has been really good. Interesting you'd say that: I always have the feeling that "new" VG10 (so on my newer Seki Spydies) holds an edge longer than "old" VG10. C...
