Re: Users, Collectors, and Social Media Madness

I have almost 3 stages to my collection... I have knives that dont get used at all because they're rare or I bought them specifically for looks and the craftsmanship aspect of them. I have nice knives that I have no problem using but also use in a more controlled environment, and dont lend out... us...

Re: Caribbean vs Military

If you plan on using the knife for endless cutting nothing beats a Military, especially one in S110V. If the knife will be carried often but used only moderately the Caribbean is a more compact package and lets you carry it however you prefer, plus it is basically rust proof so there's no worries th...

Re: Stropping

I use like a medium light pressure, I find just the weight of the knife doesn't do anything so I'll just put a slight bit more force... you can feel by hand, no pressure the knife feels like its gliding along the top of the strop. With a bit of pressure you can feel some friction between the edge an...

Re: Send in a knife for stonewashing?

I've once successfully did a ghetto stone wash at home for free on a 940-2 blade I had scratched being stupid and it turned out really nice actually... I'd post a pic but I gave away the knife so it's no longer with me but I'll share what I did. You'll need: an empty Gatorade bottle or something alo...

Re: Para 3 love??

For me the straight spines of the Military series knives are the biggest factor to liking them. Something about the way the thumb ramp into the straight spine down to the piercing tip works that just makes almost every other design feel a little clunky to use to me. I think this is because the strai...

Re: Wow!!! A crazy 30 days of must have knives...

I know the feeling... I had already spent over the limit I set for myself on knives and then the Maxamet PM2 magically came in stock the next day. Needless to say after about 5 minutes of thought it was purchased.

Re: Problem with Maxamet PM2 from the new run

Hi Genotoxic. Welcome to our forum and sorry for your experience. I'd really like to get the knife back for testing here to see what's amuck. We'll be contacting you next week. sal Sounds great Sal. It seems possibly just the first 1/4" - 1/2" of the blade is soft and the rest is normal, ...

Problem with Maxamet PM2 from the new run

Edit: Alright guys got a mystery package in the mail unexpectedly today and it was a replacement Maxamet PM2! Spyderco sent me a beautiful copy... probably the best action on a knife I've ever had and everything else about it is perfection. Yes it took a little bit and I was somewhat in the dark thr...

Re: CTS-BD1N Thoughts and Opinions

https://youtu.be/WOtD7TWVtfM Corrosion resistance to salt. Not bad at all! Beats out S30V which is usually good enough in corrosion resistance for normal every day use... you might not be able to cut up lemons then stick it back in your sweaty pocket without wiping it down but who does that anyways...

Re: CTS-BD1N Thoughts and Opinions

I shot myself in the foot with BD1N testing. I got the SE Para 3 and all I can compare it to is SE H1 and SE 8CR. It's good so far. My experience mirrors yours. I still enjoy super-supersteels but these days I prefer something a little easier to sharpen and just sharpen more frequently. BD1N hits m...

CTS-BD1N Thoughts and Opinions

Hello, by now I think we have had enough time to put our Para 3 LW's to work and really get a decent feel for the new steel introduced by that model, CTS BD1N. Since getting my Para 3 LW I have had a hard time carrying anything else and because of this it has seen a lot of use and a few good sharpen...

Para 3 came with stone washed satin finish

I recently picked up a second Para 3, just the basic black G-10 and satin blade but this second one is different. I noticed something was slightly different out of the packaging and when comparing to my nearly identical older Para 3 I noticed my original one has the classic Spyderco satin done on it...
