Re: Combo Edges: Like or Hate?

Hate. I usually like a plain edge, but sometimes like a serrated edge, but always hate having not enough of either. They are fine for mainstream consumption, and I would be that the bulk of the best selling models are in combo edge, but I say nein danke.

I'm a huge stretch fan, so a new chili Stretch is high on my list.

Don't forget the S110V Native 5 too.

I'll generally use a new knife with the factory edge until I have time to reproduce it to my liking. I generally prefer a pretty narrow edge with a micro bevel. The angle varies with steel and intended use, but my "standard" is 20/30.

It's one ice been waiting for a long time it feels like. Can someone confirm the CF finish? I'd certainly prefer peel ply because I like functional knives. I am really impressed with the new manufacturing techniques used to make the Native 5 backlock so precisely. If I recall they cut them with wire...

Nanotubes are not the secret of damascus, they're a biproduct of precipitation of carbon from the forging process. The secret of damascus is the even distribution of defect structures (such as the the tubes) Do you have a method for making graphene other than tape or CVD? While (I assume the group)...

The original big Persian is the tightest and best finished Seki folder I have. It's a great knife but with so many other great choices I might not need two.

I found the blade to be too thick and edge too short for the packaging. I prefer a thinner slicier knife like a Caly 3.5 or Stretch, so YMMV.

As I thought about it more, I think I should ask for new screws or send it in; whichever Spyderco prefers. It should happen now before there is a question about where it happened. I'm sure there are a fair amount of CS calls where people damage things and then claim it came like that.

Over Torqued Screws Cause for Concern?

I received my Knife Works green Para 2 and it looks perfect all except for the screws for the back spacers. They look like they were over torqued during assembly. The one nearest the pivot is damaged enough that there is a sharp burr coming out of it. The question I have is do you think it makes the...

I'd certainly support a K390 Para2. I wouldn't mind G-10 handles to keep the cost down. CF is nice but I don't notice that it adds anything to performance, just looks.

Don't be afraid of a patina. It's the blackening of the blade and it provides a fair amount of corrosion resistance. It's preference if you like the look, but know it isn't hurting anything like orange rust would.

M4, K390 or S110V would all be great. I would like to see darker handles that don't get so grimly looking like the grey and orange ones do; navy blue or burgundy would be good.
