Gotta go with the Delica/Endure combo closely followed by the Police. Those are the ones that even a non-knifer would refer to as a "spyderco."

Yup, but from a different knife company (BM, 210-GG). Shh, don't tell anybody. But over the past little while I'd call "impulse" on a few of my buys: 1) Persian - didn't know I wanted it, until I saw it, picked it up and saw the great deal I HAD to act on; 2) Yojimbo - again, didn't know I...

Loosen the pivot a tad for a while, clean it out with soap and water with a tooth brush, then re-lube. It should be better, but if you're "disgusted" it must be pretty bad. Send it back.

The point here, I think, is DOWNgrading. I am all for less expensive quality knives for regular users - 440C is great, and I like it in some of my tough users - but not "taking away" from a current knife. Was ATS55 decent? Yeah! Would we want the Delica and Endura back to ATS55? Probably n...

A rule of thumb in marketing: you CAN'T take away a feature. Sal is too smart a marketer to walk down that alley. He won't alienate his loyal flock. There is a GOOD reason - if the rumours even come to be true. Downgrading steel, in my opinion, would be disastrous.

Dude, it's not just you. I am an AXIS freak! I have never hidden the fact that I think the AXIS is the best lock out there, bar none. I EDC both Spyders and BM's. Actually, I have a 940 in my pocket right now. It ain't cheatin' it's diversification! Enjoy all your quality blades. After all, you can'...

Hunting - Stretch General Utility - Para You've got a lockback vs. compression lock - that's something you have to consider. I like them both, and a strong lockback may be my favourite for a Spyderco... but the compression does feel super tight too. Detente - the Para can open a little and bite you ...

Not a spyderco, but a good story that would be even cooler now. I was a kid, playing under my treehouse swinging on a rope. Well, the rope whipped around and knotted itself around my wrist! I was hanging there, not an inch from the ground, waiting for my hand to pop off. Luckily I had my trusty old ...

OK, for me, not a Spyder (gasp!) but a Schatt & Morgan slip joint Mini Sunfish. Love it - classy, ATS34, a real looker.

Agreed that the new ones aren't as good. I am happy to say that my Persian seems to have the more anodized clip vs painted ones. It seems Benchmade has also gone to the painted clips. I have to believe it's a cost thing. But, I'd pay the extra (if that's the case) for that old looking worn look of t...

S blades, reverse s, recurves, whatever you call them, they are more difficult to sharpen. Now, on the opposite side of the scale is the Wharncliff - easiest to sharpen. Unless you are cutting mostly zip ties, nets, taught ropes and likes, the Yo would be better. Don't worry about the tip. I carry m...

On the SS version, what is the screw INSIDE the compression lock arm (the liner part that moves)? I saw it there and you can't get at it unless you take the knife apart (I think - I don't have one). It's just weird, that little screw, just there... hmmmm

CF moncoque - man, you've been thinking this through. Sign me up. It would have to have sexy lines and if the pivot could be hidden, that would be cool as heck. Slipjoint it is. Agreed.

Mine's perfect - Burgundy Micarta, Linerless, even the steel. I am not dressing deer or chopping brush with it, so the quick sharpen AUS6 is fine for a tiny blade.

Just a better detente in the compression lock and I'm happy. The Para and Yo are my favourites, but I had to basically take them apart and mess with the locking tangs to get a passable detente. I also keep the blades a little tighter than I like, just in case. The blades on those knives NEED to stay...

Take out all the screws you can, then wrap the blade in tape, tape the lockback button (whatever it's really called) and then use a WET scothbrite pad (green) on a flat surface. Then shine the handle back and forth lenghtwise until it shines up. For deep scratches, keep doing it! The result is amazi...

Give it up. Although the Skirmish isn't on my want list, a few of the other BM in the new lineup are. I collect and use both :spyder: and BM. Both have their place and both are excellent quality. The Axis is still my favourite lock ever, hands down. Integrity is also respecting others. Just my $.02....
