Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?

The one thing I don't like is the tip-down screw holes found on some knives. While I don't mind tip-down carry (the Military is my favorite knife), I don't like the look of extraneous screw holes.

Re: Paramilitary or Manix

For the longest time I was a PM2 fan and ignored the Manix. Then I actually got a Manix and fell in love (but still liked the PM2). And then I got a Military and fell doubly in love! Now the PM2 feels to me like a shrunken, deformed Military!

So I am a Military and Manix man now.

Re: If you could have any knife in magnacut, why would you opt for another steel?

Because of my geographic location, I don’t have as much need for corrosion resistance. So while Magnacut is admirably tough at a given level of hardness, there are other steels that are even tougher at that same hardness. I’d taken nicely hardened 52100 or AEB-L, for example, over Magnacut.

Re: What's your LEAST favorite of all your favorites?

I think my Spin in blue Nishijin glass fiber might qualify. Every time I open up my knife chest I look at the thing and say "why are you still here?" But there's something likable about it, and it manages to squeak by without being sold.

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but the M1's days are coming to a close. Gotta be realistic guys. For a small period of time you could also buy a Paramilitary and a Para 2 at the same time but it didn't last long. I'd get your M1 purchases squared away now while you can and start embracing the future....

Re: Spydercos you wish you could buy half a dozen of...

I am very late to the Military party—just got my first one last month, and in BG42/carbon fiber no less! I was instantly smitten with it and regret not having gotten into this model sooner. So the Military would be my choice. Assuming price/availability was not an issue, I'd pick up the following fi...

Amazing! I must have that K390 Lil' Temperance 3 LW. My favorite Spyderco of the last several years.

Re: Hello again and Shoutout to the Stretch XL SE

I absolutely love the Stretch 2 XL LW. If (heaven forbid) all my knives disappeared overnight, this would be the first one I’d replace.

I just hope it’s popular enough that Spyderco decides to do it in various steels and handle colors sometime down the road.

Re: My Current Spyderco Collection

The big question is are you sneaking into the office today to get your Chief? Cheers, Radioactive Sadly the office is closed today. While I could sneak in I would have to lie in wait at the reception area for the mailman, and while it's tempting I've decided I can should just hold out until after C...

Re: My Current Spyderco Collection

I am totally blown away by that custom Whale Rescue Blade. I almost regret passing on the chance to get one a few years ago—I mean, I have no practical use for it, but it has such a unique, purpose-driven design that for the right Spyderco fan, it's worth having one even if it's just for posterity'...

Re: My Current Spyderco Collection

Did someone say we need MORE Super Blue pics? Here's some of mine: Caly 3.5 and Calypso Jr. :D You are tempting fate, sir! Speaking of Super Blue, I foolishly sold my Super Blue Caly 3.5 several years back, and it is the one and only knife I've ever sold that got lost in the mail. I dropped it into...

Re: My Current Spyderco Collection

Sir, there's an unwritten rule here that you're NOT allowed to post any pics of a Super Blue Caly!!! It's just too painful for those of us here who never got one!! I am sorry sir! I will hide that one away; out of site, out of mind. But I'll do my best to clamor here for another Super Blue sprint r...

My Current Spyderco Collection

Sorry for the low quality photos; they were taken in a somewhat lazy fashion as I sit at home sick with strep throat. The only Spydies not pictured are a SpyderSaw and a 4V St. Nick's Native Chief on the way in the mail. My wife may have gotten me a Spyderco for Christmas as well (one can always hop...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

I've got two very exciting ones in the mail. The first is a plain edge brown FRN full flat ground Matriarch sprint run from 2010. I've got the serrated one already. This sprint run is in the only member of the Civilian/Matriarch family with a fully flat grind. It's arriving today. The second is a Sp...

Never complete. For me, there is a lifetime’s worth of past models to track down/hope to come by/daydream over.

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2

What can you tell us without Shaun hunting you down? I'm not entirely certain! I know they don't want people photographing the prototypes but I'm not aware of a prohibition on describing them. I didn't get a super close look, but it had a fairly sizeable trapper-style blade with an unswept tip and ...
