Just buy a Gerber from your local Walmart... Seriously though, if you want an exclusive Spyderco you need to be on the ball when they become available. Otherwise just get a standard production PM2 in S30V. Still an amazing knife for the money!

I could be wrong but I would think the compression lock would be difficult to make work with FRN construction. Now you have me thinking, are there even any liner locks with FRN? Define "solid". Ergonomics and availability/price should be the deciding factors at this point. Both locks are VERY solid. Neither will ever fail unless you are severely abusing the knife. For example; the idiots on UTube doing spine whacks to test a lock and declaring it defective when it...

I'd be interested if it had a different lock other than a mid lock. CBBL maybe. I agree that a model currently in production would be a better canidate for a forum knife.

I think the rivets would need to be drilled out and the scales seperated to remove to blade. My biggest concern with doing this is what if the hole in the blade is not the same diameter as the G10 Manix blade...

Definitely the most underrated Spyderco in my opinion. I have a smurf g10 sage 3 that I carry every week day and the carbon fiber version that I have as a pre-need replacement.
