Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Looks like my "wife" got one for me...

I had one the last time they came out, and sold it off... Regretted that.

Now that is fixed.

Last day of the eBay sale. Botach has the Spyderhawk at MAP and you can get 20% off so around $80. Not bad for a sprint run. Plus you can use your eBay Bucks from last quarter.
Sigh... I have already used my coupon.

Re: Help me decide on a Salt

I'd say Saver Salt, as the ergos are far better for me than the Delica style handle and wharnies really work well with serrations. It's also a model that for some reason doesn't get much love but it's a fantastic knife. Somehow I overlooked the choil on the saver salt. I have been waiting anxiously...

Re: Help me decide on a Salt

I guess it will come down to what you plan to do with it. If you want a do it all kinda knife I might opt for the Salt 2. The sheepsfoot of the Saver Salt is going to take poking or stabbing out of the equation. If you intend to just use it as a marine knife (probing, cutting rope, etc) then the Sav...

Re: C-60 Ayoob model: It's Way Past Time For An Upgrade

I would be all over any Ayoob reboot or just reissue... One of my all time favorites. Hey great to see you again "markg" :) I knew a thread on the C-60 Ayoob might just have a few of the old school Spyderville folks come out of the woodwork :D I wonder where our friend "Mark Greenman...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

I so wanted to use that 15%, however my wife recently lost her job so that is not in the cards at the moment. I did get to use that 20% they ran a few months ago... That was pretty cool.

Re: Coyote Urban/UKPK

I'd be in. Honestly I'd love to see another run in G-10. Had a G-10 UKPK and sold it. Super regret that. If you never had one in G-10 you have no idea what you are missing. They could do a special run in coyote G-10, make like 3 and I will take them all... But I would still be down with a regular on...

Re: Which Spyderco to Get a None Knife Person?

I second those who question if he will use it. I would go with a ManBug or LadyBug he can put on key chain. Make sure you put it on the key ring yourself and he might find himself using it. As an aside, most non-knife people don't get that you can't take them everywhere. I wish I could count the tim...

Re: Ed Schempp

Ed Schempp has been the best at responding to assignments on ethnic series designs. He does the research, and has captured the "spirit' of the original in a folder format. Quite difficult to do. His Kris is, in my opinion, exceptional. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. sal I have to ...

I read an article sometime ago, it was said that Regan often carried a .38 revolver in a briefcase when he was president.

Re: Spyderco Consumer Announcement

This has been going on Industry wide for sometime now, really Spyderco was the last hold out. Benchmade, ZT, Emerson and others noted above. The move has been to go to MAP pricing and or dealer direct sales (no wholesalers). For the collector who is used to buying a lot of knives at the best possibl...

Re: The GOLDEN ERA OF SPYDERS 1998 to 2003

My first Spyderco was a SE Endura I purchased in 90-91 time frame. Forgot the actual year as it was a long time ago. It would have been really early in the life of the Endura as I remember getting it soon after they were released. Not to date myself but I bought it from the old "Cutlery World&q...

This one is next on my list.

IMHO, this knife feels more like the original Warrior models than the current Spyderco full size version. Now saying that I get why the full size is the way it is, and can enjoy it for what it is... But this one just has the spirit of the original.

Sad to see it go, I always liked it. Sadly print medium as a whole is stuck in the same catch 22 the post office is in. Declining revenue due to changing market habits means they have to charge more for the product, which in the end makes your product more expensive and therefore less attractive. I ...

What I have also found that is that often the packed lint has the same color as the steel and you would not notice it unless you really inspect it. It will not just come out on its own either, you have to dig it out as the lock has packed it into place.

And you can also do a nice check yourself to see if there are issues. First is there anything in the cut out of the tang that maybe inhibiting lock up? Sometimes lint gets packed into it and you may not even notice it. Use a dental pick or some other type tool to check it out. Look to see if the loc...
