Re: MAP policy change? 35%

While many prices may be higher, I have never seen a manufacturer be as transparent about pricing as Spyderco. Kristi and Sal have been very informative, and I have always felt as though we have a voice as customers in a way that is pretty much unheard of with other factory manufacturers in my expe...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

If it looks like price fixing, smells like price fixing... Yeah right, I know rubbish when I hear it. Proof is in the pudding. MAP has been in place for a few years now and all online retailers had to sell at 40%. Of course it's not going to be called "price fixed" but it has the same eff...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

Microsoft for example was found to be guilty in court for illegal business practices intended to monopolize their market. Amazon and the biggest discounters like Knifeworks, CutleryShoppe, etc (who often sold Spydercos for less than Amazon btw) just sold products at margins that work for them while ...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

Not faulting Spyderco at all. MAP is not a bad thing. Just looking at the bigger picture in regards to an Amazon monopoly V.S. free capitalism. Hypocrite here, as I use Amazon as well. Think Christmas gifts etc............ So what is Amazon's place in regards to capitalism? When a company becomes t...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

In the end, we (end users and Spyderco) must answer to the dealers' demands and needs. They are the customer. Sarcasm off. What I really dislike is that brick and mortar dealers are known to be able to haggle better prices while online dealers cannot. This would be fair if there were knife shops on ...

Re: Another round of CPMD2 sprints?

I wouldn't mind. I like D2. I remember trying CPM D2 but no longer have any. I recall it being good, but not D2 like in the coarse grain that was so good on cutting meat, rope and other stuff that do well when using lots of carbides to eat through. I only had 2 different sample knives in CPM D2 tho...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

Happy New year dealers! Here's to a profitable 2018 and beyond. May you open brick and mortar stores in every corner of the USA where people only have the internet to purchase Spydercos. Congrats and thanks for all that you do.

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

A question for you guys, will the recent corporation tax cuts (from 38% to 21% in th US) affect Spyderco, the dealers and distributors and will MAP even be necessary? Gonna depend on how dealers define necessary. Give it a couple of years and they'll get their 30% MAP (only strictly enforced online...

The OD Green Large FRN Goddard sprint from 2014. Was as low as $60 when it came out. Now all dried up at under $120.

I like the narrow profile leaf blade of the Chap. Very thinly ground too.

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

I just scored a brand new fluted CF Native 5 for $185 from a private seller thank God. Brand spakning new? Congrats. Thanks. That's what the listing and pictures suggest. Appears to be flawless. Congrats, I am officially jealous :) I couldnt pass it up knowing that I will buy one eventually anyway.

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

So the big sicount chains are wanting to sell Spyderco's because they aren't selling and are priced too high? Independant Knife dealership doe not equal brick and mortar store - many of these places don't even have a store front, just an internet site. LOL at your thinking there will be anything Sp...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%

About the "If the dealers disappear, Spyderco is toast" argument... What happens if customers disappear? Will they be vilified like Amazon and Knifeworks.com and other discounters were? LOL. Die hards like us will absorb the price hike but the more casual customers... First, they'll stick ...
