Re: Jade handled MagnaCut Mule

Thanks guys, life has been busy and I am not really happy with the first one so I am now well underway on s second version. (There was some bruising and a few hidden feathers in the stone I'm not totally happy with) Are you going to ease the thumb ramp angle for comfort? It looks like you could use ...

Re: Rex 76 mule. Who got one?

I was really hoping to get one but due to some recent family health issues and unexpected related expenses I just cant swing it right now. That said, if anyone has an extra and wants to trade for a custom leather sheath and a set of 3d printed scales and hardware, you know where to find me, lol. :bu...

Re: Jade handled MagnaCut Mule

Thanks guys, it is definitely a work of patience. Everything is done with diamond saws and diamond grinding and polishing wheels. I've got a 16" Lortone slab saw, a couple smaller saws, a 6" genie, as well as a mtitude of different diamond rotary bits, belts, files, and polishing pastes. I...

Jade handled MagnaCut Mule

Thought I would drop this one in its own thread since I may do a few like this now that I have all my stone working tools setup again. Still a lot of work to do to get it fine tuned and polished but I have been wanting to do some Jade scales for quite a while now and couldn't wait to throw it up her...

Are you going to make the scales entirely out of the jade? Or use it as an accent?
Entirely out of Jade. I may modify the profile of the tang slightly to make it work with my tools more easily but other than that they will very closely match my 3d printed scales.

Re: A photo of your workshop?

My shop is toooooo messy for a full pic but here is a Mule hanging with a couple kitchen knives I just put new scales on. I figured my S45VN Mule could use a fresh coat of BLO while I was doing these ones after using and abusing it in the bush for the last year or so. And a big block of Cassiar jade...

Hey Tiger2Lover.

I've made a few different sheaths for Mules and so far this is my favorite style.

Re: Sheaths styles and positions

Glad you like them Larry, it has been fun getting the leather tools out again! And carry position is the exact reason I designed them Like this. I didn't like the ride of the boltaron sheath so I just made my own leather version to work for me. I have about a half dozen that sit higher or lower as t...

Oooo, that rex76 mule in a potential 68-70 HRC is looking sweet. I'm very interested to see what the finished blade tests out at and to get it in my hands to see how it performs in some real world use.

Re: Scales and Sheath Giveaway!

Sweet, glad they finally arrived. Our postal has been super slow these last couple years so I am glad to see one of the packages finally arrive.

And very cool match to the Ladybug, I totally did that on purpose, ... yea, sure I did, lol.

Now hopefully the other guys get theirs this week too.

The scale pin holes look a little rough, like they have a notch in the side of them. Very cool piece no matter how you slice it.

Re: Who got the SRS13?

Still waiting on mine to get here. When I check the USPS tracking number it says it was delivered to an address in Los Angeles 10 days ago but my invoice and shipping Email clearly show my Address In B.C. Canada. I'll give it a few more days to see if it arrives but it usually takes less than 2 wee...

Re: What happend do spy27

Interesting- what knives? Is the geometry and hardness similar? Rolling indicates one of these 2 is the reason not steel composition. I have a Para 3 Lw, Native 5 Lw, and 2 Mules in Spy 27 And 2 Mules in Magnacut, I carried the Para 3 most of the summer last year and sharpened it down to 15 DPS and...

Re: What happend do spy27

I've had more experience with SPY27 than MagnaCut but I think I like SPY27 better. I've only got 2 sharpens on my MagnaCut but so far I think it rolls easier than my SPY27 blades. I am running my MagnaCut at 15 DPS and am going to step back to 18 DPS on the next sharpen to see if it holds up better ...

Re: Your Magna Cut Mule performance.

I got my Magnacut out for another campfire on the beach and did my usual chopping, splitting, and feathersticking. My 6 YO daughter said it cuts nice and even though it is a bit big for her hand she did a good job slicing up some cedar. Nothing too serious but it is sure holding up well now that I h...
