Re: Edge Journal: M4
Here is a photo of me using the knife to cut plastic straps on Friday, May 3. 20190503_100707.jpg The knife afterward was tested slicing news paper. It showed little wear with a snag or two on the pinnacle of the apex. May 5, it is now morning and the knife hasn't been used yet. I will be stropping ...

Re: Underrated utility
I have a lil' native with a serrated edge, wanted to add a serrated folding knife to my collection to try it out and to later do a post on my youtube channel on how I would sharpen it. so far, I enjoyed it. Not what I expected in terms of utility use. Using the factory edge, it makes quick work of b...

Re: Edge Journal: M4
Interesting. Aside from a decline in initial sharpness, how much of a decline have you seen in overall edge retention? The hair whittling edge is marginally reduced by the 4th day of use in the week. There is less use during the weekend. Usually by Sunday night, the blade will be stropped. The fina...

Edge Journal: M4
Before I start, let me be clear that results will vary from person to person depending on heat treat, use, materials being cut, how the knife is sharpened and maintained. I have sharpened the para3 Cpm M4 on my edge pro with the following: spyderco diamond rod, dmt aligner plate( 600 grit) and edge ...

Re: Grip discussion
Grips styles differ from person to person. shouldn't be a matter of completely following finger choils or index choils. If you got a grip that works for you, then stick with it.

Re: Advantages of 4 " (plus) blades?
Every blade length has its uses. you want a blade that you can utilize tip control, opening boxes and other small tasks, there is where the much shorter blades come in. If you want blade length where you utilize parts of the blade( example: 1/3 for cutting packages, 2/3 for decompiling boxes, and th...

Re: CPM Rex 45
My experience with rex 45 has been a wonderful one. it has a respectable amount of toughness and amazing edge retention. did a one month edge holding study and the edge held hair whittling sharpness the entire month only getting touched with the strop once a week. here's a link discussing the one mo...

4 inch blade native(native chief or chief, I would presume the name to be) and a tip up clip carry military. I don't mind full steel nested liners on a millie

Re: Is this edge wear normal?
Knife steels like S110V and S90V are not sharpened with Diamond or CBN abrasives at the factory. I experienced the same thing with my S90V para3 and saw it dull at the end of the week. My knives go through about as much work as you put your knives through. These steels have to be sharpened with Diam...

It will also help if it is described as a "tool" in the description section of the shipping form.

Re: Hi! I'm Canadian. Is it OK to send my Spyderco in for service now?
Hi. I was wondering. I bought a TI military (regular), non=-fluted) from KC when they were disco'd (not sure now if they are or not, they sell them regular now) and it does not have a good lockup. The blade and lock both can move when in the lock position. I was wondering; Is it OK now to send the ...

Re: Any Spyderco Military sprint runs or exclusives coming out besides REX45?
Considering the REX45 what are the pros and cons people who have the PM2 and Para3 are experiencing? How is the patenaing and rust? Does REX 45 discolor and rust as swiftly as 52100? I have a REX45 Para3 and did a vid on my YT channel on my 1month carry experience with it. To give you a short answe...

Re: Plain combo edge
Combo plain edges has its pros and cons. Then again, everything has pros and cons. I would suggest in my opinion, to have a coarse finish from belly to tip( because the edge has the assistance of the sweep), and give the flats a finer finish. If you try it that way, it may work out better. Again, ju...

Re: Updated shaman sprint steel poll
I handled the Shaman as a prototype like three years ago and remember really liking it. I finally picked one up and wow! Amazing! It is a sturdy and well built knife capable of hard use without being a sharpened pry bar. I am really digging it. Bring on the Cruwear! I am down for 4V too but in my e...

Re: No sharpening November
I guess I’m in by default. I didn’t sharpen anything in September and not planning on it in October or November either. What are you guys cutting so much of? For me, on a weekly basis, the knife that I carry goes through primarily cardboard, cloth, and tape. what comes up every now and then is plas...

Re: Surface Rust on DLC Blade
Hi A.S.O.K.A. Thanx for sharing your experience. I've got a fair amount of plating experience as I owned and operated a custom prototype circuit board manufacturing company for the aerospace industry back in the 60's. But coatings on steel are still a learning curve for me. I've never been a big fa...

Re: Surface Rust on DLC Blade
Hi Senorsquare, Very interesting. Thanx for sharing. It does present more questions than answers. Did the rust travel through the DLC barrier by some sort of osmosis? Is there rust under the DLC? We have a smsple sent to us by a customer that had rust on the surface of an H1 blade that was coated w...

Re: No sharpening November
It’s not possible for me to tolerate a dulled knife. Yes, it can turn out to be tough! Anyone can always start and give up, the important thing is to get to know your knife better, get to know yourself better and share the experience. I'm thinking on either the SE Salt 2 or VG-10 Delica. The questi...
