Re: February EDC Challenge
I am in. PM2 in 52100. Was shaving sharp this morning but had to some zip tie work taking down the Xmas lights. Also broke down about half dozen boxes this afternoon. Haven’t tested the edge afterwards. Full disclosure, I am unable to carry the PM2 at work due to a 2.5” max blade policy. I normally...

Re: Spyderco Maintenance Techniques
This is a cool tip, thanks for sharing. Do you notice any warping of the scales at all when sticking them into a pot at rolling boil?
No, I have not noticed any warping.

Re: Spyderco Maintenance Techniques
What's about the original oil used on carbon steels at spyderco factory? I prefer mineral oil. It’s cheap, odorless, food grade consumable, something my wife was concerned over. And just sticks to the blade. It does collect dust and pocket lint though. For the action, I like something lighter weigh...

All great feedback. Let’s try to keep this about techniques and methods as compared to tool brands. I think we all agree good tools are a worthy investment. But once in hand, share any secrets you use with those tools.
Tom, thanks for the torx screw sizes. Very helpful.

52100. It’s the most “basic” steel I have in the arsenal.

4. Regarding loctite, sometimes less is more. Bathing the screws will cause the loctite to overflow onto the scales. Once hardened, the loctite cannot be removed from the G10. I am very conscious to immediately wipe excess loctite away after applying.

Re: Steel Testing YouTube Videos
Hi all, I’m watching a YouTube channel that compares blade steel from different manufacturers, Spyderco PM2s and Para 3s being common comparables. The author suggests the heat treat on all the spyderco models / steels are the same, respective to the test conditions and his results. Check it out and...

Re: Steel Testing YouTube Videos
I don’t believe Spyderco would go through all the work with sourcing steel for dealer exclusives if they heat treat all the same. Has anyone done any hardness testing on two different steels in the para 3 lineup?
