Re: New Spyderco Paysan CQI: defective & disappointing
Perhaps there's also a disconnect between Spyderco's design decisions (lock that "sticks" on purpose, because it's expected to be used thousands of times) and some buyers' expectations (a knife with this price tag shouldn't have to be broken in). Spyderco could clarify that with current an...

Re: Lil’ Native Wharncliffe – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2023
The Lil’ Native is an established design and this new version with a Wharncliffe blade will undoubtedly appeal to many fans. I liked how the compact Lil’ Native offers such great control of the Wharncliffe blade. It remined me of the original C75 Kiwi design, but with a much more substantial and er...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2023 Report
I used a portable digital scale, with all its inherent inaccuracies, but it turned out I misread the notes. My apologies. It is -or rather is more likely to be- 2.96 oz / 84 g. I’m sure Spyderco will note the ultimately correct weight for this knife. I’m sorry for any confusion. I already corrected...

Re: New Spyderco Paysan CQI: defective & disappointing
I don't own any frame/liner lock, but looking at your complaint about how the lock engages too deeply, I'm thinking that's exactly what I'd want with this sort of lock. I saw many pictures of knives where I thought these locks looked too flimsy, like a slight movement would be sufficient to disengag...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2023 Report
If it's above the magical 54g but still feels incredibly feather light, it would remain a very interesting novelty.
If Wouter could provide a clarification as to how the weight measurement was taken, it'd be nice
Perhaps he used a portable scale, which malfunctioned ?

Re: Native Chief Lightweight – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2023
I am not the best guy to ask ( and offcoarse i am not a human scale :winking-tongue ) But it is indeed extremely light for its size. It feels pure like blade weight to me personally. Well that sounds promising then 👏 This could become a pretty popular knife in the Spyderco lineup, especially if the...

Re: Native Chief Lightweight – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2023
Mooi ! 👌 The Spyderco Native Chief Lightweight was another large folder that was shown at the 2023 Amsterdam Meet. The first thing I noticed when handling it, was the weight. Or rather the lack of weight. There are no liners in the handle of the Native Chief Lightweight. Combined with such a large b...

Re: Introducing the Native Chief Lightweight (courtesy of SpyderCollector)
The G10 Native Chief weighs 110g. I'm guessing this LW should be closer to 90g ?
Because 54g (!!!) for a knife this size indeed sounds incredible and implausible. (And I'd order one right away )

Re: MuleTeam Forum knife?
What about a Mule Team scale set? That way you could keep the scales on each mule as you rotated through testing them. Interesting proposal, also the most feasible one. And, and... these scales could mate well with a Damasteel Mule :winking-tongue But which material and which design ? For the latte...

Re: MuleTeam Forum knife?
The ceramic version is prolly being churned out of Raven's Portugal factory at the moment, so it'd be a bit too late for this. But to crosspost from the other thread, a Damasteel version would be totally cool 🤤 Dunno if the material's price is competitive enough to justify producing such a small bat...

Re: With MagnaCut looming, it's time to update the Chaparral's steel
Open any Spyderco backlock. Remove the spring and in small increments bend it to make the force required to your liking. Just be sure not to go too far so it unlocks under pressure. If you do get to that point, go back one or more steps to make the bend shallower. I have done that to all 5 of my Sp...

Re: How do you prefer to "Spydie-Flick"?
I see a lot of these "spydie flicks" on YT videos, but never got around to making any of them work since the blades are too hard, e.g. prone to closing as oppose to letting themselves be flicked as is they were sliding on butter.
So I have no preference.

Re: Rockjumper steel options for this year
Salt MagnaCut RockJumper, Red-Orange FRN, Coated and Uncoated blades + hardware, Plain and SpyderEdge, full production. Why? Seki MagnaCut Salts would need a new color as yellow and green are taken. I don't understand why a MagnaCut RockJumper, being in the Salt series, couldn't receive the usual y...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?
I see arguments from time to time - you don`t like you should not buy... There are no issues with my Spydercos and You are just nitpicking as this is a tool and small details like this don`t matter... Non centered knives are ok and you are just a sissy to complain... What do you intend such knife t...

I don't like that the new models are hard to find outside of the USA
They take so long to trickle down to foreign distributors

Re: Now that Sal has mentioned that possibility: Chaparral FRN variants? (blade shape, color, steel...) - your proposals
Blade material : Magnacut
Blade shape : gotta say, I'm entertained by the idea of having a Wharncliffe Chaparral
All this, assuming I could reuse the blade in a standard Chaparral with liners.
