Re: What to do if someone tries to rob you with a knife?

I forget where or by whom I'd seen this said, but the quote was "You don't win a knife fight, you only lose less." A tip I'd read in one of Mas Ayoob's books (which are good for general theory, but outdated in a lot of ways) was to keep a small amount of cash in a rubber band or clip or wh...

Re: Native Chief first and ongoing impressions thread

I never noticed how much smaller the finger choil is on the PM2 than on the Native series. I never found my PM2 to be uncomfortable. How do they compare? I just pulled them back out to compare, and the difference is probably only noticeable if you look for it and handle them back to back. That bein...

Re: Native Chief first and ongoing impressions thread

Here are a couple comparison shots (I know the lighting kind of sucks, sorry). For the closed shot, I lined the ends all up on the same line. For the open shot, I lined up the handle side point of the finger choil on the same line.

Re: Native Chief first and ongoing impressions thread

I really like the slimness of the knife in pocket as well, the lack of a thumb ramp really lets it ride well. I had the same impression re: looking stabby, but haven't had the occasion to use it for anything to test that aspect, nor taken the time to compare it closely to a PM2. And I agree that the...

Re: Manix 2 now in BD1N?

Not to mention that I would be very surprised if the super premium steels were offered in the China made line. From a business (and QC) perspective I would expect them to be limited to the premium products, not the budget products.

Re: Native Chief - Can we get a heartbeat?

Just opened mine - typically excellent fit and finish. Solid lockup, no play, smooth action, blade is dead center. I love the size, it's a big knife, and it's a looker for sure.

Unless I am mistaken, all three are generally considered as equivalent, just made by different foundries.

This is what happens after you sharpen/microbevel at 40° several times:

Re: DLC 20CV PM2?

Thanks for the tip! That's really impressive how well it cleans up. That is definitely a good tidbit of info that Spyderco should consider including in the box.

i just got a second hand pm2 sprint s35vn. i think i like it. a little bigger para 3 basically. love my para 3. just a quick Q, what is the factory angle on the edge.
I'm pretty sure all spydercos are 30° (give or take a degree or two due to small variances).

Re: Native Chief - Can we get a heartbeat?

DLT has them in stock just ordered one. https://www.dlttrading.com/spyderco-native-chief Yep, came here to post this, too. Don't know if it's specific to the Chief, or some other promotion, but it added a free microfiber cloth to my order. I was also able to use some reward points to get $20 off, s...

Re: Just jumped on the PM2 bandwagon!

It's hard for me to compare them directly, as I'm a Spyderco newbie, and the only P3 I own is a lightweight. That said, I really like that knife, but I prefer the blade length and handle size of the PM2 (though I do wear a XXL golf glove, so I may be a bit of a statistical outlier in that regard). I...

Well, got mine. I would have preferred the satin one, but missed that by a few minutes. Looks like this one sold out in about 5 minutes, maybe 6, as they're gone now.

As much as I love my new P3LW, I prefer the size of the PM2 for its utility. I would be all over a PM2LW.

Re: Para 3 lightweight

Just got mine in the mail today. Seems like a terrific knife! Very slick action, perfectly centered, and the scale texture is much less harsh than my Native LW, it slips in and out of the pocket a lot more smoothly. I'm very interested to try out this steel.

Haven't looked around, but noticed that it's listed on DLT at $156 for email notification.
