Re: Big CBBL folder
The solution: Manix XL lightweight (FRCP construction just like the Manix 2 LW), wire clip, "better" clip placement... tranalucent green handle... :D Would be an instant purchase for me. I would totally buy at least one of these, regardless of handle color. It would also be a great platfo...

Re: I want a Sage 5 in a premium steel!!!
If doing an M390 analogue, I’d prefer 20cv over 204p because AFAIK it’s less expensive. S90v would work for me as well. For non-stainless, K390 or A11 all the way.

Re: Let's talk pocket wear...
I stopped using clips on knives that don’t have flippers. Most knives are more comfortable in use without a clip anyways. The only knives I currently own that I use clips on are my Kizer Gemini, and Massdrop Keen, both Ray Laconico designs.

Re: Please talk me into a military or para military
Definitely worth it, but which knife you get will depend on what you value most. If you want the best steel : value ratio, and have the sharpening skills and diamond or cbn equipment, then the s110v Manix 2 is the one to get. If you want maximum cutting performance, the Manix XL is the best in the G...

Re: SpyderEdge 2020 (A Personal "Challenge")
I like SE, and I find them easy to sharpen after carrying serrations for the last couple months, but repairing an tooth that gets badly damaged is exponentially more difficult than repairing a plain edge. I’m going to have to send my SE Caribbean in because one of the teeth got folded over 180 degr...

Re: REX 45 and other "rustprone" toolsteels: Corrosion and by that dulling on the very apex - is it an issue in regular
It happens, but usually the drop in sharpness people notice is from sharp enough to effortlessly whittle free hanging hairs to sharp enough to split hairs with effort. Outside of extreme edge junkies and extremely corrosive environments, most people will probably never notice a loss in sharpness.

Re: Mule Team Survey
1) Did you purchase a Mule Team knife in the past? Yes, the LC200N, 20CV, and PMA11 Mules. 2) Did you put a handle on it? Halpern contoured g10 scales on all of them 3) Did you make or buy a sheath? Bought sheaths for two of them, made a kydex sheath for the other. 4) Did you test the performance of...

Re: K390 Shaman?
I’d buy an frn shaman if the scales are contoured the way the standard shaman is. For me, the shaman has the most comfortable handle of any folder I’ve tried. K390 is a major selling point no matter what. It was enough to convince me to buy and use a PM2, after all .

If this was anything from the manix or native lines, I would have been all over it. On the other hand, this is a good time for me to save money, since I’m off work for a couple weeks.

A K390 shaman is tied with a k390 manix XL as my most wanted knives. Hopefully it'll happen this year.

Re: Manix2 LW compared to G10?
I prefer the lw because I prefer closed back construction, and the lw has fewer hotspots in my hand. The lighter weight is nice as well. I don’t mind the pinned construction because I never disassemble my knives.

I’d definitely buy the endura and dragonfly wharncliffes. A mule would be awesome as well. Zome black and white would get my handle vote, though I’d buy regardless of handle color.

Re: Manix2 XL vs Shaman
The XL is a better slicer than the shaman, but is slightly less comfortable for extended use. I like both equally, and consider these along with the caribbean leaf to be spiderco’s best production designs for full sized pocket knives.

Re: S90V Love ~
S110v is a functional steel for sure, and isn’t horrible to sharpen if you’re patient. I have two problems with s110v that lead me to prefer s90v or M390/20cv over it, though. 1) S110v is the most easily damaged steel from accidental impacts of any steel that I’ve used, to the point that a two foot ...

Re: Manix 2 rex45
I’ll probably try to snag a LW. Since the XL is left out of any sprints, I might as well try to get used to having the mini-Manix LW be the go-to Manix platform for steel variety. With SPY-27, REX45, MAXAMET, BD1N, and S110V, the LW has a good steel option for any cutting task. A helluva lot cheaper...

Re: Knife too thin
Personally, I don’t notice a difference in use between 2mm and 3mm blades, so long as the blade is wide enough and well sharpened. The native cuts just as well as a chaparral for me 99% of the time. I think that 3-4mm and a wide blade is the best range for overall use, after using my chaparrals, na...

Huh, mine has barely patinad at all, even when soaking in my sweat at work. It has a bit of a gold and blue patina near the edge from cutting strawberries, too mild to get a picture of, but that’s it. It’s nice to have non-battery acid sweat :p
