Re: What are you listening to?

I find it so interesting that I run into so many young people that like the music I grew up on back in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. I've talked to a wide range of younger people about the old concerts I attended back in the day and most of them tell me that the quality of concerts today are not as g...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2019 Report

Just so everyone is aware, the wharnie Dfly concept is now a couple of years old, having been popularized by Frankie’s Blades AKA Tactical Pterodactyl Knives and Nick Maffei in Bellingham WA who together have produced numerous variants. This is their first pic of one on Instagram dated June 20, 201...

Re: 52100 performance

I think it's great, well maybe not great wear resistance but that's not all that crucial to me, but it's great on wood for example. Obviously very stable edges at thin angles etc, easy to get very sharp... Love it.

Oh, I follow him on instagram. I hadn't noticed him using S390.

I follow a few russians on instagram that show videos of them scoring glass with S390 at 67 HRC.
Good lord! Lol

Re: Laminated CF

Hi Deacon, just wondering (and truly I'm not criticizing), why do you dislike peel-ply G-10? It's ugly, it traps dirt, and it abrades pockets. What's there to like? Ok, as I said, just wondering. Indeed I do find that it shreds my pockets more than peel-ply CF, which is weird, bc they're both peel-...

Now those are nice! I take it they are called Jumpmasters? I'd never seen them before; I especially like the one in the middle :)

Re: Laminated CF

I avoided Spyderco models with laminated carbon fiber because I thought I wouldn't like it. I broke down and picked up a Dice at a really good price... now that I have it I still don't know. don't really like it ...don't hate it. Can somebody tell me again why does Spyderco choose this method for s...

Re: rusty steels

I love carbon steels like 52100 for the very reasons OP seems to think are not very good ones, namely ease of sharpening to a razor edge and toughness. And I live on the gulf coast and have had no problems keeping 52100 clear of corrosion. So for me, they work, and that's all I need justify and enjo...

Re: Needs, use and designs

I definitely don't NEED the (relatively small number of) knives I have; had I found it first, I well may have stopped at the 52100 PM2, but other Spydercos make me happy as well, so I continue ;)

Re: Wondering about Spyderco's factory lubrication...

If you want something quick and easy, just swing by a local drug or grocery store and use some mineral oil on the blade. That's what I've always used one my non stainless blades and have never had any corrosion issues, also food safe. I'm not sure about Ballistol. Just throwing another idea your wa...

I can't agree more about the Stretch 2 V-Toku! It's a wonderful design and execution, and boy do I love that sharpness ;) No blade play on mine though, which is also gratifying.

Wondering about Spyderco's factory lubrication...

Hello all, I recently received my Stretch 2 V-Toku sprint, and noticed that like all of Spyderco's non-stainless bladed knives it came packaged with a light coating of oil on the blade. I am vaguely aware that the company sorta "unofficially" favors and recommends the use of Ballistol (and...

Re: Flicking backlocks - who does like it? And motivational post

I recently got a Stretch 2 and I love it, but it's action is too stiff for me to finger flick open. I'm not saying it can't be done, obviously some people can, I'm just not one of them. On a somewhat unrelated note, knives that I CAN flick open like the PM2 and Para3 are, because of the compression...

Re: Stretch 2

I found the handles between the 1 & the 2 to be different enough that someone would likely have preference one way or the other. I fall into the 2 group, but have no issues with the 1. CG and in the G10 version the blade actually IS longer compared to the FRN version of the Stretch 2. Really? W...
