Living with the orange Dragonfly

Hi folks, Some of you may remember that my wife asked me to get her a new knife after her BM came open when it was dropped. It was a replacement for a liner lock that nearly cut her badly when it opened in her purse. After much advice from forum members I decided to try her on a DF. Her hands are so...

I would like to see a dark charcoal carbon fiber and a dark brown polished micarta with the layers showing.

I have mentioned several times on this forum that I would appreciate some knives being made with micarta. One of the reasons years ago I bought a Spyderco Viele was the beautiful dark brown linen micarta scales. However, I do have some older BM knives that have layered G10 that is done in such a man...

Hi Doc Dan, Thanx for posting and we're sorry for your disappointment. Please send the knife to us, please call it to my attention and we'll figure out how to make you happy. We've had issues with the "Tern" model from the beginning. We believe the design is sound, but the maker was getti...

I am an English prof teaching overseas. They do not teach cursive, here. In the US and UK many places have stopped teaching it as the teachers do not know how to write cursive. None of my students past or present know how to do this. The argument many are making is that with the advent of computers ...

Byrd Tern Quality issues

Hi Folks, I just received my Byrd Tern. If this knife is any indication, DON'T WASTE your money. I had real hopes for this knife after reading the reviews. I was doomed to disappointment. First, the blade opens just fine and it takes just the right amount of force. However, the knife blade is so eas...

It is easy to miss the point with the G10 Manbug. I love the handle size and color of the G10 DF, but the Manbug is an ingeniously designed size efficient cutting machine. Do not misconstrue this to mean that I do not like the G10 DF. Quite the opposite. I love it and carry it everyday. I think this...

This is a great idea. I am going to try it. Thanks.

Another thing that keeps bugs away are clove spikes. Just put a handful in your closet and no need for moth balls (and they smell good too). Also, an apple on a pick-nick table that has a lot of clove spikes stuck in it will keep flies away.

Dino, Dino, Dino. There is no comparison between the Caly 3 CF and any Delica. The Delica is a fine knife and if I were afraid of losing it/having it taken away, it would be my choice. But the Caly 3 is a far superior knife. This is the knife that brought me back to Spyderco. It is a beautiful examp...

Hi guys. I am interested in purchasing a semiautomatic sidearm as my first firearm. I am leaning heavily toward 9mm but have yet to test out .40 caliber. My real question comes down to Glock or the Smith and Wesson M&P. I got to shoot both a M&P 9 (full size) and a Glock 19. It's strange, I...

I agree with Blerv and Joshua J. I would add that ZDP-189 (I like the laminated version) takes an extremely sharp edge for steel. But it is harder to sharpen. 12C27, which I have a lot of experience with, also, takes an extremely sharp edge and though it will not stay that way as long as the ZDP-189...

I have large hands. I used to carry a large knife on a regular basis. Then I discovered a small Manbug G10 so I carried it along with a large knife. I liked it so much, I looked around to see what else I could find. I do not like knives without liners. So when I discovered the G10 DF, I bought one a...

Thoughts on the Manbug G10 and Dragonfly G10

Hi folks, As you all probably know, I am a big fan of the Manbug G10 and the Dragonfly G10. In thinking about the strengths and weaknesses of each I thought I would make a few observations and then get your feed back, if you don't mind. I do not think either knife is perfect. The MB's blade is only ...

At $400 I simply would not buy it. I have many other things I can do with that money. The Caly3 ZDP is about as pricey as I am willing to go, and only then because this is a special knife. I would like to see other blade steels in the Chaparral, as well has handle material, but not at that price.

one very annoying problem. My example has an annoying gritty sound whenever I open it one handed using the Spydie Hole. There is a video on YouTube regarding this issue. It seems to be a burr or something on the tang, or perhaps, the lock bar is dragging because of the design. The owner in the vide...

I would take the Chaparral, hands down. It is smaller than the Delica, thinner, but the blade length is close to being the same. The carbon fiber looks great and there seems to be a new titanium version with some really radical looking circles made from, of all things, straight lines. It is beautifu...
