I would much rather enjoy S60V/440v to be back in SE offerings.

Re: Corona Virus, Chinese Origin, Now In the USA
They did react fast in trying to contain it and them being a Communist country is the only reason why they could react as fast as they did doing what they had to. In the first vital days of the outbreak at the end of december they were too busy saving face/covering-up and arresting doctors talking ...

Re: Corona Virus, Chinese Origin, Now In the USA
Any official numbers on the mortality rate? Is it again one of those strains that only kill immunocompromised people, children and old folks? Couldn't find anything online, but given that SARS had it at round 7% and how similar they are, they could be close, probably a bit higher. It would be pretty...

Is there an approximate time of the year when we might get to see a sneak-peek of the design? :D

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco
I would buy one on release day. I have a vintage CV Heljestrand Mk No.10 (made in the '50s maybe?) that I use now and I am very happy with, I shave every 2-3 days and it keeps a very good edge for weeks with just plain leather stropping. I would love one in some fine grained stainless steel from Spy...

Probably too early for Sal to know yet, but here's a shameless bump.

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45
That photo is not rosewood,, it is a mystery softwood dyed and impregnated into laminated form. Nothing wrong as a knife handle, just not as advertised. I would also guess it is not stabilized as in exotic woods for handles, only glued up into plywood. Real rosewood is very oily and does not glue u...

Re: Opinions on the combo edge
The serrated Pacific Salt with its half an inch of plain edge at the tip is the perfect combo edge knife for me. If I need any more plain edge than that, it means I don't need serration at all.

Re: Best Edge Performance Steel between these choices?
I really love the edge strength of Rex 45 at the hardness Spyderco runs it at, but I've voted Maxamet since it's the steel that has more use for me due to what I usually cut with my knives, so its edge performance is better. If I would cut something less abrasive, Rex 45 would be my choice out of th...

Re: Stretched Stretch - continued from Straight spine thread
Yes, Stretched Stretch is going to have a 4 inch blade, and a handle to accommodate such blade. Sweet. Hopefully the handle has a better fit with the blade when closed with no wasted length, as Sal said was the case with the current Stretch and its legal blade length/handle ergonomy balance. I am d...

Re: Stretched Stretch - continued from Straight spine thread
If by stretched Stretch it means the blade being bigger, original design or straight spine, I'm in! If it also involved enlarging the handle like in the case of Manix XL, I'm not personally interested as I still want the knife to be a comfortable pocket EDC. But I'm not the sole target customer so t...

Re: H-1 Blade Scratches
Any recommendations on what to use/do to remove blade scratches from H-1? I’ve tried Flitz which worked somewhat but not fully. Thanks! I don't think there's any reason to do it simply because they'll come back fast from something as simple as cutting some cardboard. H1 is a working man's steel, ve...

Re: Para 2 Maxamet
I'm very satisfied with my Manix 2 in this steel, and I paid a euro price for it. I think its worth the $200+ for a PM2 in this steel imho. Whoever paid 180 for it, you have no idea how blessed and luck you were lol.

Re: Corrosion or grind lines?
If it's overheating during edge grinding and the color of the steel being pale straw (instead of purple/blue), I doubt the damage to the steel is very deep. A few sharpenings and removal of surface and edge material should bring back the properly heat treated steel underneath, so don't stress too mu...

Re: Southfork in CPM-154
Hi Pancake, The majority of the cost is in the labor. A Southfork in 154 wouldn't be much less expensive than in S90. sal Hi Sal. This made me curious: what makes the Bow River so cheap to make if it's not the materials? Could a similar process be applied to a knife that would still functionally an...

Re: New Shaman release
That's very true. They could make a Shaman with 8cr13mov steel, throw some Micarta on it and it would be an instant sell out! I would definitely pay upward to $100 for it in that steel! Great beater and easy to touch up. Got the chance to hold a Shaman in hand, very good ergos, it felt almost like ...

Re: ZDP-189 - Overrated or Super Steel?
IMHO If any steel is overrated it's S110V. (...) and it also has very poor toughness. That's only because mass produced knives don't run it at optimal hardness. Sad but true. The only way to experience it at its full is from a custom maker, unlike steels like Rex 45, M4, ZDP etc. which seem to be e...
