Re: Looking for a Self Defense Knife?
If you are carrying a knife for self defense against a gun then you better be able to judge a situation very quickly on whether it’s going to require deadly force or not. Speed, ferocity, and surprise are the only factors in your favor. Pray that you are quick witted enough to guess right.

Re: River's Edge Cutlery Mystery Exclusive - 8/14/23
I have owned a REC avocado Shaman and Manix. I was extremely underwhelmed and they both just looked gimmicky to me. I would really like to see more 10V in almost any knife configuration though. I missed out on the BBB Manix so a 10V Manix would be particularly nice and I have already asked for a 10V...

Re: military 2 camo pattern
Without having any direct knowledge, I would guess that the current military pattern is patented and that they don’t exactly want a lot of it in the public. Nothing but a guess.

Re: Fluted CF Native5 In Stk
I love mine and I would highly recommend one. I have yet to see a picture that does justice to the way the fluted CF catches the sunlight. It’s pretty stunning. You really can’t go wrong when you add S90V steel and the fantastic quality of the build.

Welcome to the forum and I agree with the others that was a really thoughtful first post. There seems to be more mud to dig through on the forum lately but it is still full of knowledge people who are willing to share their experience. Take care and welcome.

Convex Grinds for Dummies
I can Google and I can read articles but what does a knife having a convex grind really mean? Is it really complicated? Do some people just not like it? Spyderco clearly doesn't do many (maybe any?) convex grinds and BRK seems to be kind of known for them. Is it just a fixed blade deal? Thanks for y...

Re: What knives do you miss?
I miss my brown KC XHP Manix the most. It’s the nicest Manix LW I have owned and one of those knives that the universe aligned just right when it was created. I left it on the side of the trail during a break and by the time I realized that it was gone it was too late to go back and find it. The on...

Re: *Spydie Summer Sale 2023*
I picked up a Canis and Lil Temperance 3 SE. Thank you to Buddafucco, RamZar, and JRinFL for pointing out the sale at KSF. Yes! Thank you all. I saw the post early and scored before KSF adjusted their prices up. I had to blink a couple of times to make sure that I was seeing them right. Thanks again!

Re: *Spydie Summer Sale 2023*
Good to see retailers getting squeezed like the rest of us. The age of the MAP is over. No one is going to buy overpriced toys in austerity. What if whiny retailers were a 0 interest rate phenomenon? It's an interesting phenomenon, a MAP holiday in November and now another MAP holiday in July. Do r...

Re: I Like Cats
There are at least a couple of us on the board who share your enthusiasm for the Cat. I think that it’s possible that it is the most under appreciated knife in the Spyderco lineup. I’ve had the same well carried and used 440c version for several years and it’s still a solid knife that is a slicing m...

I paid full price and although I clearly would have liked to have paid less I still feel like I got a good deal and a good value. It’s a joy of a knife on about every level and the craftsmanship is superb.

Re: St. Nick’s Exclusive red and black Goddard!
I so regret not having bought two. It has been a knife heavy purchase time for me and I only own a couple of other back-up models but for $125 it should have been a no brainer. This knife is large but lightweight, carries comfortably loose in the pocket, and most importantly it cuts like a champ.

Re: KnifeJoy Neon Green G-10 Manix2 in CPM-20CV
I would really like a Manix in 20CV but the nicest thing that I can say about this knife is that it will be easy to find if you set it down somewhere. The ‘Safety Green’ is great for a job site but I’m not sure that it’s something that I would want to carry in a casual situation.

Re: Am I the only person who likes to age his Spydercos?
I enjoy watching a patina develop on a good blade through time and solid use but I don’t artificially age one. Everyone has different nuances they enjoy with their collections though. Even if those collections are for hard use or modding as your hobby. I hope that you enjoy your time on the forum. T...

^^^I really love the group pic but it sure does make me regret that I didn't buy a Ulize when they were available. That's a beauty.^^^ I am loving my Subvert though. It's a solid and very well made knife. I agree with the sentiment that it's beautiful enough to be a work of art but also screams to b...

Re: S110V & ZDP-189: Not Down & Out IMO
Was carrying my s110 pm2 earlier today. It's one of my favorite knives. S110v won't go out of style anytime soon in my house. Zdp is good stuff too. We're so "steel spoiled". It's great How fast does it loose the “razor” edge ? In my experience ZDP loses it's fine edge relatively quickly ...

Re: S110V & ZDP-189: Not Down & Out IMO
I enjoy both steels quite a bit and I have a particular fond place in my heart for ZDP. I have always found it relatively easy to sharpen as opposed to some of the posts that I have read about its difficulty. A couple of folks were kind enough to point out this is likely because of the high chromium...
