Re: Folding knives over 4 inches

I don't know if it's the case here, but some makers design some models around a certain handle size, making the blade length more of an afterthought.

Re: Button Lock Magnacut Caribbean 2

I would guess that the button compression lock on the Smock utilizes some sort of intellectual property from Kevin Smock. Spyderco might not be able to use it on other models. Again, that's a guess. I have no firsthand knowledge of that whatsoever and could be way off base. I might be wrong, but I ...

Re: "Scope the Edge" project

I would be interested, but have very limited free time and am lacking the equipment needed to provide consistent edges. This might be far beyond what you are looking for, but one fascinating point of study (to me at least) is the type of edge each steel takes and what that edge is best suited for. ...

Re: CPM MagnaCut | Edge Performance

The average knife user does not think of knives in the ways we do, and usually carries a completely dull knife. This goes for kitchen knives as well.

Edge retention matters to the minority.

Re: CPM MagnaCut | Edge Performance

Interesting that M390 seems to have made a very good showing in comparison, unless I'm reading the charts wrong. Didn't Dr. Thomas say that he wasn't especially fond of M390? I'm pretty sure I heard him say that in an interview recently. I wonder why, since it seems to be such a good performer in t...

That blade on a Stretch 2 handle would be intriguing. I can't look at your sketch, without seeing a vulture. Might be a good one for the Byrd line.

Re: Ti Framelock with drop point blade?

I would love a straight spine, RIL, clip point a little more than a drop point, but it would be nice to see either one.

Standard production PM2 with G10 or aluminum handle scales and S90V blade.
Standard production K390 or CPM 10V on one or more Golden models.
Military 2 with 4 position clip placement.
BBB folder (if it doesn't come before 2023).

Why complain about him wasting our time? You don’t have to respond and you don’t have to click on his threads. There is an ignore feature for a reason. Use it. If you chose to read his threads, get triggered and then participate you probably share just as much blame. If he was trolling us he is rea...

Re: SMKW Mystery New Exclusive (Jungle themed)

Why is the PM2 so popular? I’m not being a jerk, I am just being totally honest. I don’t think it’s anything special is it? The PM2 is one of those knives that's in the ideal size range for most people, it has a comfortable handle (often mentioned alongside the Manix), and the blade shape is incred...

Re: Knifecenter Delica in Black Pakkawood and VG10 Damascus

Inflation people, inflation. This just the first of the big price increases in the industry. Luxury items will go up first and fastest. I predict we will see the contraction in the cutlery industry in the some countries as everyone runs to the lowest cost makers to feed their addiction. Too bad it ...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

This is as far as I got, before the battery on my Drexel died. We moved into another house a couple months back and I can't find the charger... When I do, the choil will be widened, the points on the handle will be ground down a bit more, and I plan to modify the end of the handle to be a bit ...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

Threads like this make me really appreciate Sal and designing so much more. I'm a Hobbit sized male, designing a knife for me and designing a knife that meets Vivi's needs would be near impossible. I picked up a Police LW 4 mostly to see how the choil works on a knife that for me is huge (I shall n...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

I know there have been requests for a scaled-down Police, but with the P4 G10 going away, what are the odds of a flash batch(or better yet, standard offering) Police, that's smaller, with full liners and G10 ? A smaller Police with a 3 5" blade, K390 or S90V (and carbon fiber scales to keep wi...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

Hi Paul, The Police 4 is much narrower, with little or no "palm swell" and no "hook" at the butt. It's really surprising how a different length really changes the design. I've been rotating an straight spine Stretch in the 3.5" version and a prototype of the 4" blade v...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

I'd imagine a 3.5" Police would still offer a full grip behind the choil. Have you considered modding an Endura to have an index choil? The Pacific Salt in my pocket has one in fact. (Waiting too long to finish typing this, I see that Sal already covered the issues with using the Stretch as a ...

Hi Albatross,

If we were to do it, we would make a G-10 version as a test run and then go to FRN, assuming a good response..

sal
That would be great! Hopefully people want it as much as I do. I'll create a poll to see where people stand. Thanks Sal.
