The Hatamoto is IMPOSSIBLE to sharpen it seems once it gets fairly dull. I'd go with folder #1 - Spyderco Military.

I've had the blade coated with some wax, at first, in order to avoid these kind of situations. The wax comes off easily from the knife after some cold water. Also cleaning the inside of the sheath is not hard whatsoever.

My friend modified his first Spyderco knife, a Paramilitary, which was given to him as a birthday present. By me, of course. He actually thinks it is more secure after the mod, since if you cannot grab a knife comfortably, the grip is not exactly secure, then. He added CF and even modified the blade...

Millie definitely is the bigger knife. I've had dull, brand new Paras shipped to me in the past. All my millies are flawless though.

Tenacious.
I actually think the Tenacious was the cheapest folder I've ever bought. Quality is superb though, for such a cheap knife of course.
Otherwise I'd have to agree that if one needs a GOOD knife for a GREAT value, then the Military is the best choice.

I've seen this type of jimping before. The bottom doesn't have any jimping on these models. I personally prefer the typical one better.

I actually am probably one of the biggest Perrin fans out there. And though I have handled some of his custom knives, the Street Beat has always been my favourite small FB. This knife is a BEAST, in the world of small fixed blades. I personally am not the biggest fan of the VG-10 steel, on my fixed ...

Tough one indeed. Though, I have to admit, that when I am in need of an all around functional knife, I tend to go for the Military. The size is perfect, for whatever it is you need to cut. And overall, I've never had a situation where i wished I had an other knife. Though there were instances, when ...

Nice knife, but just like the Pheonix - Huuuuuge handle, TINY blade. I personally don't dig that, too much. The Millie's handle is big enough, with a rather smaller blade, for a folder this size. I actually stopped buying Spyders, just because it's all handle nowadays.... I mean, I like an ergonomic...

Both are very good steels. I personally cannot see any difference in edge holding. If you're experienced with sharpening, then your knives will stay sharp for a relatively long time. Most new knives have S30V though, I also find it easier to 'repair' , after an extremely heavy usage.

I also am a Kubotan practitioner. My favourite Kubo is Cold Steel's Ti-Lite.
I've got the smaller, Titanium version, and trust me, this baby can do some major damage if need be.

I've had a S30V leek for a couple of years. The A/O spring broke a short while ago.
Overall, I like Kershaw's knives. Good quality, solid, and nice prices too. Though I'd really recommend not going for the A/Os.
